Anyone else going to pick this up?

Went and placed a pre-order in brisbane city EB Games on monday.
Interestingly, PC collectors Ed is only $110 vs $130 I think for consoles (suckers)

Just hope the multiplayer is better than crysis...

i think farcry 2 will be most under rated game of this season.

well not under rated as far as scores go, i think it will be critically acclaimed - but i don't think many people will get it, not enough coal in the hype train.

Just played it for about an hour. Graphics look pretty but the gameplay is weird, i'm not far into it so maybe it will pick up but so far its really dull. It feels like stalker :/

I'm still annoyed they haven't made it available on Steam in Australia.

i would rather get it 1-2 weeks later and save $30+. its not like you are going to miss out on anything by waiting slightly longer.

I've just finished playing it after about 2 or so hours and i really like it. like a lot. If your looking for any type of continuation on the story of farcry 1, then you'll be upset. No mutagens, no trigens, no islands, no jack carver. you get to pick 1 of like 5 guys to play as, and away you go in a S.T.A.L.K.E.R (f*** that is annoying to type) like environment. just 1 bloody massive map and factions to do missions for. The only real reason I can see for using the Farcry name is that they wanted attention. This could eaisly been named anything else.

Also it runs perfectly on my new system too @ 1440x900 with very high everything and 2x AA. If your system can run Crysis well then it will handle this no problem. I love being able to start fires in the grass and have it burn people to death. Not a huge fan on the 1 pistol, 1 knife, 1 shotgun/sniper rifle/machine gun, 1 special weapon system. I like to always have a machine gun and a sniper rifle on me but now i'm forced to use a pistol and SR. Luckly the ammo crates you can pick up in the outposts count toward all weapons so you dont run out unless your a crap shot. i'd give it a 3 1/2 or 4 out of 5. nothing mind shattering but very enjoyable.

EDIT - also as it turns out Farcry 2 uses a Bioshock style widescreen. instead of actually displaying the game in real 16:9, they just crop the picture to fit. Doesn't bother me much but yeah

Ubisoft's Far Cry 2 Digital Rights Management is identical to Electronic Arts' much-hated implementation, as seen in Spore and Mercenaries 2:

Some DRM points that will hopefully answer some of your questions and will clarify some misunderstandings about our DRM and SecuROM:

# You have 5 activations on 3 separate PCs.
# Uninstalling the game “refunds” an activation. This process is called “revoke”, so as long as you complete proper uninstall you will be able to install the game an unlimited number of times on 3 systems.
# You can upgrade your computer as many time as you want (using our revoke system)
# Ubisoft is committed to the support of our games, and additional activations can be provided.
# Ubisoft is committed to the long term support of our games: you’ll always be able to play Far Cry 2.

Oh goody activation, at least you can de-activate it so that's at least a plus.

The game is already piratable, the DRM stuff has only inconvenienced the people that buy the game.

I understand that DRM is mainly used to secure purchases over the 1st week or 2. So they should release a patch after that that removes DRM as after the 2nd week most games are cracked, completely defeating the DRM.

Also, the money that goes into using DRM rights could instead go into writing excellent dedicated server software.

Best way to stop pirating... decent multiplayer experience + online community.
