Costumes were awesome... music is good I guess just don't get why everyone goes crazy about them and cutcopy. Sounds like your regular house tunes to me.

I think they are so overrated, some songs are okay, decent music behind them, but the vocals are f***ing awful.

There was one really retarded band at the arias, it was a guy band full of emos. The guy was straddling the stairs, humping the wall... I dunno if it was the presets, or some other band, but that band was a huge joke. The whole band was moving around like retards. It's like they decided 'hey we can't dance, so let's spread our legs and try to f*** the guitars'

Apocalypso is a brilliant, brilliant album. Everyone should listen to the entire thing, multiple times.

What do you dislike about the vocals?

Either Faker or the band for the Veronicas.

Now, if you want to complain about bands with f***ING s*** singers - look at FAKER!

but the vocals are f***ing awful.

Sounds like someone is expecting every bands vocals to sound like maynard.

/agree with you mongie, however the album is so damn old now i'd be expecting something new from them early next year.

Saw them 3 times live before this album and only once after it (Splendour this year) and they're getting more and more awesome.

In saying this, Pnau are equally as awesome with less the hype.

The vocalist of midnight juggernauhts sounds the same as presets imo.

I'm not expect everyone to have vocals like Maynard, far from it, i'll admit straight up that some bands i really enjoy have s***ty vocalists, i just can't get into the Presets, and they get sooo much hype, even on Triple J, which s***s me because i just don't think they are that good.

One of the Presets guys sounded very gay, not that there's anything wrong with that.
I don't mind their music but I wouldn't buy it. It's marginally better than most mainstream pop rubbish that gets flogged to within an inch of its life on commercial radio, but only just. It has been horribly overplayed and unfortunately this kind of kills it for me. Could do without the vocals altogether and maybe remixed with a thumping bass line or two, but is it really worth it? Probably not.

Seems that with their heavy rotation they are now one of those "cool" bands that conservative top 40 hounds can say they like in order to seem hip and with it.

Also: Was it just me or did that Sam Sparro fella trip over his cape at one point?

Lol yes... it was in a part of the song where he was singing "oohhh oohhh" and in his voice it almost sounded like he was going to say "oohhh whoa!..ohhh"

Yeah totally, caught australian idol while eating dinner (roommates watching it), and she dropped outta school when she was 16...and she sounds like shes 15. Plus her new song is utter tripe.

They were talking about her on Hamish and Andy today, about how you can tell when someone is winging a speech. "I want to share this one with my brother... who looks really cool tonight....in his hat".

I don't know what the big deal is, surely there's more deserving Australian artists.

Pendulum 'Granite' - Official Video

Why didn't Pendulum recieve an ARIA for their groups release "In Silico" this year?

Pendulum are from Perth, Australia.

Origin Perth, Australia
Genre(s) Drum and bass, Breakbeat, Alternative Rock, Electronica [1]
Years active 2002 - present
Label(s) Ear Storm, Warner Music, Atlantic Records
Website www.pendulum.com

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Silico_(album) - The album.
But then I think back to past ARIAs and how its all about how many sales you get. Quantity over quality? Ah ok or is it just the amount of screaming 13-year-old girls you get when you get on stage.

I think I will just remind us of Casey Donovan supposed 3 times Platinum ARIA winner.

Controversies
* In June 2006, SonyBMG dropped Casey from their record lineup, stating that she did not fit the image they want to promote.
* The day after Casey Donovan's victory in the Idol finals, Telstra's website inadvertently linked to http://www.caseydonovan.com/, at the time a gay porn site, rather than http://www.caseydonovan.com.au/. The mistake was repeated in a full page advertisement in The Age the next day.

Funny thing about Popstars they usually have come back albums.

Presets are -all right- (hrmph) but they are like Midnight Juggernauts from Melbourne.

Im just wondering who was first Midnight Juggernauts or The Presets when producing sound cause it says in Wikipedia that MJ was 2004 up until the present.

Somehow I am wondering why Midnight Juggernauts didn't get an ARIA

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=AE0AmeculsQ - Midnight Juggernauts
versus
http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=d8di8L2I2Hk - Presets (This won the ARIA for best album? LOLWUT?! *cough* Petshop Boys *cough*)

I still DEFINATELY prefer Pendulum and maybe Midnight Juggernauts though.

As for Australian Idol. I was watching it just for a laugh, just the other night and they got rid of the blonde.

Friend thought she sounded like Frank Sinatra, too flat. Of course Kyle knows the truth of who's getting put on the money making scrap heap.

But then again ever since they got rid of Mark Holden the whole 'Australian Idol' thing has just got a bit ridiculous with King 'd*******' Kyle.

In 2008 Kyle and Jackie O were the new hosts of Big Brother Australia 2008 in an attempt to boost the shows flagging ratings and replacing Gretel Killeen. However Channel 10 does not plan to run the Big Brother show in 2009.[4]

In an attempt to boost poor ratings and to promote the 2007 season of Australian Idol, Sandilands entered the Gold Coast compound and was due to conduct his radio program in house on the Monday morning.[14] However, after a heated verbal exchange with Big Brother, Sandilands required anti-nausea injections for migraines and began vomiting every 30 minutes. He left the house soon after.[15]

In October 2006, Sandilands referred to Australian Idol contestant Bobby Flynn as a "mong" - which is a derogatory slang for the now-dated term mongoloid, referring to people suffering from Down syndrome. Sandilands insisted that he meant no disrespect to those suffering from Down Syndrome.[13]

Sometimes I really do worry about the state of this country and where we are going musically wise. Whether it is going to be a pre-manafactured-music-instant-popstar-stardom (with the exception of the Guy Sabastien person) or more midnight-oil-where-you-have-to-fight-for-what-you-want.

Makes you wonder, aye?

Kimbo I guess it needs to be produced in Australia? f***s me, did they even get nominated?

Last I heard Pendulum had pretty much told australia to f*** off and went to live in london, just because they were born here doesn't give them the right to an aria.

Presets are great, but i liked their first album (Beams) a lot more than apocalypso. It was breakthrough at the time.

Btw presets have been around longer than the juggernauts. They are better to i might add :D
