Ok, I feel the need to get the family out of the house. Who's up for a planned 4x4 day trip of some kind?

I'm not looking for hard core rock climbing. More the dirty weekends guide book kind of deal. Forrest's & Mountains or beach ect.

Suggested places to go?

You up for it Obes, Jim ect ?

Edit: Dirt bikers welcome. (Vic, Term ect)

EDIT:
Ok, so it looks like we are on for the 9th. Mt Mee / Glasshouse run.
We have:
E.T.
Jim
Slinky
Slaps
Term (on bike)
Scooter (???)
Mass (???)

I'm in. How about a run around glass house? Mt. mee?

Or out to ormeau? I know some wicked tracks down there.

Plan it on almost any saturday and I'll be there.

sounds good ET, when do you wanna do it

mt.mee is quite close, is all easy tracks where you won't destroy your car unless it's a toyota prado and is good for family cos we can fire up a bbq at the gantry picnic area for lunch, there's room to kick a ball around etc

I'm not looking for hard core rock climbing.

Way to spoil all the fun.

Or out to ormeau? I know some wicked tracks down there.

If your not doing hardcore rock climbing at Ormeau, you're doing it wrong.

Also, I'd be up for a weekend some time.

Rover 4x4 park has some really good camping area's and provides a lot of easy tracks for those who want them and more advanced tracks for the rest of us.

(They allow Bikes at Rover now too, sad I know :( but it means more people can come along.)

It's to early in the morning and i've already had to edit this message 5 times >.>

Glass house have some pretty easy tracks. Would be nice and muddy there at the moment.
This was glasshouse a few weeks ago.

Maybe the Sat the 9th of August? I have the HIA home show the weekend before that so the 9th will be my 1st free day.

Can everyone make the 9th?

If anyones up for this kind of 4X4 let me know, just mute the volume as theres annoying arab music in the background that at the time seem the right thing to be listening to

Where's that Infidel?
I did the Simpson last year and there wasn't much just open sand bits. Quite a bit more vegetation then I expected, that seemed really bare though.

nah it's fine for bikes
the only bits of mt mee that are moderately hard are totally optional

I only run over babies, kittens and greenies - the public uproar from squashing dirt bikes in state forests is basically zero so it's not worth it :(

9th is a goer for me. Shall we make it just qgl or invite others? More the merrier right? Next door neighbor is keen as well.

"More the merrier" doesn't work with 4WDing all the time.
Well, on the harder tracks at least, Mt Mee might be ok due to the difficulty (lack there of.) Anything over say 10 (on the outside) starts making for a long day on interesting tracks.

That said, if it's just a cruisy day and no-one takes too long to go on the optional harder stuff more people wouldn't be a bad thing.

Bump:
Can anyone who is planning on coming please confirm. The plan is to meet in the carpark of the IGA / Brumbies at Samford at about 8:30am this Saturday.

Jim, what route are you thinking we would take? Basic itinerary?
Jim

yep all good to go here

suggested route would be to drive straight from samford to dayboro, head nw out of town to lacey's creek road, head down that for a few k's until the one of the turnoff's into the state forest - either the first one or the second one which is the one you'll find in your dirty weekends book, depends what time we get away from samford. the first road will chop off about half an hour or so of basically useless winding dirt road if we're a little on the late side.

head thru the forest basically along the same track as in the dirty weekends book and come out at the ranger station where the gantry picnic area is - we'll probably pop out there in time for lunch, maybe 1pm-ish. have a bbq and head off home via the bitumen from mt mee back to dayboro again, some nice scenery as you wind down the mountains
