Hey guys,
My dad, whos pretty savy, ie he does loads of web designing as a side business, is having a problem, and i have no idea, hence this thread. Here is the issue. He is trying to send an email that will look the same no matter which app opens it. Hes done it in html and looks perfect on everything that hes tried opening it with (pc: outlook express, online, etc and mac: macmail, online, etc) however if its opened with OUTLOOK (not express) it opens the background as an attachment and alters the formatting, what the hell? does anyone have any idea why this might be happening> and how it may be fixed? if more info is needed or someone wants the email to look at the issue, ask away. the reason we need to get it right, is that its for my brothers business, and it kinda needs to look professional. he owns and operates ssop.com.au (sydney sports orthopedic and physiotherapy) and its still in the building phase hence professionalism is at an premium. thanks for any help here guys. |

outlook will make things attachments and not embed them for a whole bunch of reasons, one being if you put in an image and then have the html resize it, it will be an attachement, if you dont resize in the html then it wont be.

emails on the internets are a tricky business indeed
just when you think you have it all nailed down, some mail server finds a new way to sink you |

Best way would be to email a link to an HTML page so when they clickie it, it opens in IE/FF/Whatever and *should* be rendered properly.

yup;
we use an external mob to do our mass email spams (expedite/messagereach) after having too many dramas sending them ourselves: plain text with attachemnts, no dramas, htmls, big dramas |

Give up. Outlook from 2003 onward cannot view real HTML emails. It is incredible. As per above link, even Xbox newsletters ship now with a link at the top that says "click here if you're using Outlook", so Outlook users can actually see what the hell the newsletter is about - its just not possible to do anything even remotely complicated. Write off Outlook, add a link to view it online, or don't send HTML newsletters. |
