Has anyone actually played this yet? It looked pretty promising before the release and I just forgot about it. Home sick today I was looking for something to keep me entertained and opened steam to consider playing something and it popped up saying it is out now.

Its not overly expensive however there are a few things I'd like to make sure of before shelling out the money.

Firstly is the gameplay as good as its made out to be? To me it sounds pretty good, like DOD:S plus vehicles and some more realism minus the CS gay factor.

Secondly are there a decent amount of local servers and a decent number of peeps playing it?

It was pretty popular on 2k4, or so I've read. Dunno what it's like on source.

Hrm doesnt look like its too popular here... I had a quick look on GA and they only have a single server but I can't tell if thats the UT mod or the steam release.

It was a mod of UT2k4, it has now been ported to a standalone package thats being distributed by steam.

Its not bad, massive step from something like DOD with iron sights only. I enjoy the challenge and because it isn't noob friendly the tard factor is very low. I feel though its just missing something... dunno what really but something just doesn't feel quite right.

That being said I haven't had a decent game of it yet as there doesn't apppear to be that many aussie players yet.

Some other good points is that its very team orientated, for example to operate a tank at full capacity u need 3 soldiers (1 driver, 2 sheller, 3 MG) unlike in BF u can hoon around and shoot shells all by yourself.

I had a decent local game 8v8 the other day, and it is actually playable on the US servers ~200ms... however in close combat you will always get raped.
