THE FOO FIGHTERS

The Foo Fighters are the unmitigated success story of 2005, this week holding the number one album spot in Australia for the fifth week in a row - a feat equaled by no other this year. With album sales two times platinum in Australia and platinum in New Zealand, The Frontier Touring Company have just taken the opportunity to announce the bands Australasian tour.

The much anticipated In Your Honor Tour kicks off in late November and will include arena concerts in Wellington, Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne and a headline spot at Perth’s RockIt Festival.

The In Your Honor Tour has yet to be previewed anywhere in the world, but promises of a spectacular set, top notch production and the band’s history of unforgettable live shows make the Foo Fighters’ upcoming tour a must for any self-respecting rock fan.

As the Sydney Morning Herald wrote in June, the Foo Fighters have “proved incapable of disappointing, live or on record...You get the feeling the Foo Fighters take pleasure in making every show as enjoyable for their fans as they evidently are for them.”

The Foo Fighters released their latest album In Your Honor (Sony BMG) in June this year to widespread acclaim. Amongst the plethora of rave reviews, the Sunday Herald Sun accorded it four stars, writing “Long live the Foo” while the Sun Herald wrote “9/10 – a heady mix of outright rock anthems and songs that are chilling and isolated, backed by warm acoustic guitars.”

Appearing in Australia with the Foos are Leeds lads Kaiser Chiefs. Picked to open the NME Awards Tour 2005 (the slot that helped kick Coldplay and Franz Ferdinand along on the road to fame), Kaiser Chiefs have become something of a sensation overseas. The special guests for the NZ leg will be announced shortly.

Outside of the US, Australia is the Foos most successful territory per capita, with New Zealand closely snapping at its heels. With such widespread album success it follows that tickets are going to be a hot commodity when they go on sale Monday 8 August

yeah, i saw them at bdo a few years back. Very very tight band and put on an awesome show. Best bit was when dave grohl drove up onto the stage on a scooter. Unfortunately I didnt enjoy it as much as it was worth because it was the end of the day and i was tired and the hangover was setting in.

it's close enough that you could throw a half drunken bottle of 600ml coke and have it land on stage.

I'm sitting in section S46A.
