We've published these survey's before, and will continue to do so as we feel that gamers are both miss-represented and under-estimated in terms of the number of people that actually play games online and off.

Bond uni are the latest cab off the rank, currently running a survey taking approximately 12 minutes in length, with questions like what games you play, who else in your house plays game, how much you make (fat loot - they mean wow right!) etc etc. So if you have the time to spare, head on over to the Bond University Survey and have your say.

While we're on the subject of survey's, we're currently working on one for AusGamers, so get your survey skills in tune for the one that'll count!

Update: After my post about the current Bond University Survey on Games, I received further clarification from the survey's author on its purpose, and objectives. This hopefully will address any concerns anyone (including me) have in regard to this survey. We're a cynical bunch I guess. Anyway here's the skinny:
The main purpose is to show Canberra that games are a serious medium with mainly adult players who want an R18+ classification. That's why we want people to respond. The survey is funded by the Interactive Entertainment Association of Australia. It is designed to be the first publicly available summary of game play across the country. Many AusGamers members will be aware of the ESA (formerly IDSA) in the US and the downloadable PDF that shows who plays games. We are creating the same thing for Australia.
Great to see IEAA actually being proactive for the first time that I’ve ever personally noticed. I've always been amazed that they – as a group – have the largest vested interest in the current limitations of the classification system for games in Australia, yet seem to do little to affect any real change. I had assumed they were too scared to rock the boat, I was wrong!

For a personal comment on the issue, if the IEAA are going to look at this fully, I'd like to see them asking additional questions of retailers, you know, important ones like "do you ask for ID when a punk kid asks for that copy of Counter-Strike(MA15+) to become a l33t haxor", or are parents even aware of the classification of the games their children play (if they say yes I call lies!). More attention would need to be paid to the policing of classification if an R18+ rating was available, which any sane gamer would agree it should be.

Now your worries have been cleared, head on over to the Bond University Survey and fill that sucker out.

Wonder what it was for.

Had to enter your postcode in twice. So perhaps they want to sort the information acording to your locality, why do that? They seemed to want to know how often/much a household would spend on computer equipment and games compared to the house's income.
The Dr who made the survay works in a Ethics department. Perhaps he wants to know how important a household rates computer games. Or do people who play lots of games tend to live with many others who play lots of games. do people who play games tend to live with at least one other gamer? If one peson in a household plays games will other people in the house be suckered into it?

The main purpose of the survey is to show that games are a serious medium with players who come from all different backgrounds in Australia (I know, not news to gamers, but it is to politicians). It was designed at Bond Uni to be the first publicly available summary of game play across the country. Many forum members will be aware of the ESA (formerly IDSA) in the US and its downloadable PDF that shows who plays games, how often, etc.. We are creating the same thing for Australia. A 16 page brochure with results of the study will be published nationally and available for download from Bond and other sites. Journalists and politicians will be very interested in this and it will probably add to the debate on whether Australia should have an R18+ classification for games. The survey is funded by the Interactive Entertainment Association of Australia.

LOL, i dont think its a bond uni problem, but rather a problem with the place they are hosting the survey at.
