I think I remember you saying that you have a WRT54G at home with modified firmware. Which firmware do you use, am about to pick one up and have been looking at www.linksysinfo.org for options but thought I'd check which one you use.

I have run two of these units for the past 12-18 months and I use the www.sveasoft.com firmware, it rocks.

They try and make you join a forum and pay money to download the Sveasoft firmware.

Workaround is, search google for "alchemy firmware download" and you'll get a free download page. :)

yes i run the sveasoft firmware. They charge for access and the price isn't too unreasonable, opensource issues aside. as suggested you can of course find it on the net, you can then try for the 'opensource should be free' moral high ground.

linksysinfo is the best non-pay wrt54 site i've found. has links to lots of the free firmwares. i'm not up on it all but sveasoft is what most people seem to recommend.

It's certainly a big improvement on the default firmware. Provides many more features such as QoS, VPN and ability to boost your signal strength (well they're the options i've used). I tried walllogger but didn't really see a benefit as i never reviewed the logs (i'm joking i keep all logs and will send them to the police if i'm hacked).

Do you really want to show to logs of me hacking into c:\natslovr\kiddy_pr0n on your computer?
