People always seem to have drastically different opinions as to the greatest ******** ever so I'd like to see people's opinion on this.

I'm going by most influencial, and that would probably have to be....Led Zepellin, but most influencial song would have to go to Free Bird by Lynard Skynard, with the whole hippi movement and all that.

What's your take?

Comprehensive list there Dopefish. I personally think that greatest all time would have to go to a band that has influenced most other bands, and I don't think a band has really done that as significantly as the Beatles. Sgt Peppers (not my favourite) had such a massive impact on the music scene and really has shaped modern music in so many ways.

Best rock song though... I'd be tempted to go for something by Pearl Jam like Black, or even, yes, Alive. I know the latter is over played to s***, but it is still a great f***in song.

Other than that, I'd go for Muse's Citizen Erased.

Metal? Slayer...I mean that's if you want real metal and not some girly limp-wristed goth wannabes.

Rock? AC/DC...I mean c'mon, greatest rock band in the world? No contest.

Actually Damaged, Australian metal gods, would have to be up there for sheer ass-rapingly powerful tunez. But not the most influential etc. Just loud. And fast. And good.

Deftones - White Pony and Around the Fur
Tool - Aenema and Lateralus
Nirvana - Nevermind
Metallica - And Justice for All, Master of Puppets and the Black Album (my fav)
Obviously all of the Beatles albums, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Queen would be up there with the best...

There's just too many, and it's far too hard to pick a favourite song, they're all so damned good.

I think that we all have a fairly good idea that metal is one of the best music genres. I personally like to tone it down a bit on occasions and listen to H.I.M (Dont ask what is means there is no real answer. However, the band website illudes to it being His Infernal Majesty.)

No matter what we listen to we all know Rap is bulls***. These stupid artists think that talking fast (Yes talking - not singing) is good? Honestly did too many of yo homies pop caps in yo head juu fool? From somewhere this crap has sprung up and now everyone is listening to songs (if you call those songs) whos every 3rd word is cash or bitches or brother or skanks etc. Give the music industry back to people who have talent.

Any Metallica album or song. But I like plenty of other stuff, I've been listening to Kittie and Avenged Sevenfold as of late.
