Topic: Mac OS X for X86 leaked?

Just heard from a mate that Mac OS X for X86 had just been leaked onto some P2P networks... Did a bit of digging to see how recently this had begun and it appears it only just been leaked. On the other hand some sites are claiming its a hoax (Apple trying to downplay maybe?).

I don't think Apple will be pleased if it actually has been leaked. Though, perhaps it would be financially better for them to start selling an OS in addition to their craptacular hardware products?

It's out, and was out uhm... Saturday I think.

But yeah, it's nice. Sure as hell runs better than OSX runs on the 1.1GHz iBook I use at work, f*** that thing's slow, especially in Eclipse!

Slashdot article about it from 2-3 days ago:

http://apple.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/06/12/130234&tid=179&tid=1

Anyway, you're talking about 'leaks', 'P2P', etc, so don't expect your post/thread to not get nuked :)

There is also another 'leaked' copy that is infact a CD image that when booted from displays goatse in all its glory on your screen, possibly GNAA related.

There's also a 960MB textfile of "GNAA" repeated over and over.

What the s***, I didn't even know they were making an x86 version. Are they going to release it as a retail product eventually (like, for Windows/Linux users that want to migrate) or is this just as a result of their recent announcement Mac stuff was switching to Intel processors?

it has been reported on major news websites... but it could still be a hoax..

I discovered it after I had a really annoying customer (know it all laptop buyer) tell me...

When I say know it all, I really mean "know nothing, but think he knows it all" by the way.

Every version of Mac OSX has been compiled to run on x86 "Just in Case" they said. They're shipping development platforms with Intel P4 2.4s in them, running OS X86. The rumour is that there's been a leak of the OS, after somebody clever ported it from the dev platform. Phil Schiller (Apple World-wide Marketing) has said that although you will be able to dual-boot an Intel-based Mac with OS X and Windows, you won't be able to run OS X on a "PC".

Seems the development edition of oxs x86 had not been leaked, even tho that version will run on any x86 pc, not sure about graphics compatiblity think it was only support for the intels intergrated gma900 logic, then again might have support for all the nvidia / ati mac cards 5200-6800U and 9200-x800...

Id give up my left nut for a copy of that osx x86, hell yeah :)
windows only good for gaming. :(

They are going to put some sort of limits to make sure that OSX only runs on apples. I dont know how they are really going to achieve that =\
