I've tried searching but can't find the thread!

A while back people were talking about how the attenuation levels can tell you how far away from the DSLAM/Exchange you are.

Does anyone know the formula to work it all out?

Got me a new Linksys AG241 modem (ADSL2 compatable) and it tells me the attenuation numbers now, unlike my old one and my exchange gets upgraded in a few months so wanted to know if I would get 'decent' adsl2 speeds!

I seem to be between 3-4k so can expect anything from 4mbit-10mbit(best case)

A friend of mine gets 4Mbps ADSL1 @ 3-4km on an extremely noisy line (Telstra had to perform repairs several times).

I'm sure you'll do better!
