If anyone is familiar with the comedy series Black Books, they will be pleased to know that Season 3 starts tonight on ABC. I think it's on at around 9.30, but check yer guides.

I am taping it while I watch the football.
Perfect-a-mundo.

The first two seasons are available on DVD if it tickles yer fancy.

Update: It's on at 9.00pm

Yeah I got the first two seasons out and got kind of addicted to it, even though, in some ways it isn't perfect like, say, Fawlty Towers is perfect comedy. In some respects, I think Bernard is a little bit derivative of John Cleese's Basil Fawlty, but it doesn't spoil the show. In fact the real comedy for me is in the character of Manny who, if Bernard Black could be compared to Basil Fawlty, then I suppose would best described as a Manuel without the language barrier.

I should write an essay on it ;)

i dont really see that connection very much, Bernard is a much bigger c*** then Basil and Basil worries about things whereas Bernard doesnt really give a s*** about anything other then drinking and smoking.

As for Manuel and Manny, Manny isn;t actually that dumb, he is just all over the place, where Manuel is a dumbass.

Both awesome shows though.

Yeh I was making a loose comparison, and saying that they are both good comedies based on flawed characters.

However:

As for Manuel and Manny, Manny isn;t actually that dumb, he is just all over the place, where Manuel is a dumbass.

See I would probably disagree. Manuel isn't really dumb, his main comedic flaw is the premise that he has a big problem with the language barrier and that's what sets up the comedy.
Manny isn't dumb either, but he operates under the premise that he has swallowed the Little Book of Calm and so is suitably submissive and (for the most part) tolerant of Bernard's abusive ranting.

Both Manny and Manuel have an essential comedic flaw which renders them at the mercy of a dominant and self-centred main character.
