Short notice for the kickoff (this weekend in Brisbane) but Pantheon e-Sports have word that the Australian season of World Cyber Games for 2005 is about to begin. Unfortunately, the 2005 update to the official WCG-Au website is delayed, holding back full details.

This years programme takes on a tour format with 16 stops around the country where each event carryies ranking points. The top ranked players/teams play off at the national finals as well as gain representative selection for a number of mid-season international events. Ultimately, the national winners score trips to Singapore to play off for global fame and phat lewt.

Games on the Au programme so far are Warcraft 3 and CS:Source on PC. Other games may come later. The Xbox tour format is still being finalised but is expected to include both Halo 2 and DoA:Ultimate.

I guess its understandable that the WCG is sticking with a staple diet of CS: Source, but it would have been nice to see something else - I think CPL has chosen to support Painkiller this year, right?

so i assume that seen as all the prelims seem to be being held in LAN centers/cafes that they arent byo pc - is the finals like this too? if so thatd suck - i hate gaming on pc's other than my own :(

(not that i actually intend to enter, cause i suck at both games *cue support for bf42 comps ^_^* but yeah, why not having prelims at proper lans?)

WCG and CPL both died in the arse when q3 was dropped, imo.
