Yay for sexy girlfriend washing the car for me.

Its an awesome car, big phat cruiser. Has custom exhaust, extractors, good sound system and all the rad stuff. Plus its ninja black :D

All class, love it.

Instead of making this a generic 'new car w00t' thread, you can post pics of your beasts too.

Same engine as Supra, straight six 3L (hence the SC300).

could have got TT or V8 but this was perfect for our needs and had everything we wanted, plus insurance is way cheaper :D

Interior is immaculate, like new. I will post pics later. Going to indro now...

A couple of notes:
* I would post a pic of the corollacoaster, but i dont have a digital camera.

* Strex - there is something special about the soarers, isn't there. I love em.

* maxe - is that 4th pic ellison rd? (7th brigade/marchant park?)
also, your car seems to be somewhat damaged. from what i can see, most of my taxis have less damage than your car. is that correct?

* HeardY - that pintara is fantastic. excellent example. Do you miss the big Commodore? If i had a Commodore like that, there would be only one reason why I'd trade up to a pintara - expensive maintenance/fuel. Otherwise, Commodore all the way. I just love the old world feel of the VC/VHs.

* Eds - Sonatas are nice cars hey. Just don't keep em longer than about 140,000.

* KungFuCamel - That dash is impressive. Do I spy bracken ridge plaza in the background? Corner of Telegraph and Norris rds?

* eK - Capella? Rotary-inspired, yes?

* Suhaib - up the indestructible corollas.

* Demon - what size motor? Good on the fuel?

Also, this thread should read "Show us your car! 56K DEATH!"

* Demon - what size motor? Good on the fuel?

2.2ltr engine... gets around 550-600klms to a full tank (approx. 60litres) i guess that is reasonable, it could probably be better but i suffer from lead-foot-itis ;D & it definitely isn't as good for fuel use as my honda trail bike :D but it does keep the rain off me & has a sweet sound system (nothing flash tho).

Okay then:

* Kat - did your car come with the factory MP3 CD player? And does it have a plastic intake manifold like most Hyundais? How good are they on the fuel, like Litres per 100km around the city driven fairly hard (4000rpm every time)

* Paveway-3 - that ain't a bad car. Its just in that little segment I don't like though, not big enough to be as tough on the road as a Commodore/Falcon, and not small enough to throw around like a go-kart. But then again, I love Camrys and they fit in the same bracket. Aren't they the same mags hunter has on his Falcoon?

* Demon - i have lead-foot-itis too. 550-600km from 60L is fairly reasonable for a car of that size, my corolla does 400km to 44L from a carby fed 1.3L so i'd much rather your car. There is something special about the Honda though, a certain sense of ride refinement isnt there.

wowsers I get about bit over 400km's out of 95litres, lucky I got 2 fuel tanks taking me to 145litres if need be, I think I've only filled both of them up once and it hurt me.

* Spoon -
400km's out of 95litres
You're kidding, aren't you? That is the worst fuel economy I have ever seen. Our taxis do 450km on $28 of gas. I thought my corolla was bad when i say to myself $10 for 100km. Sometimes it makes me sick to think about driving it because of the cost. I have three mates with stock commodores and they all say $10 for 100km also. My next car is going to be one of my old taxis cos i just love $28 for 450km. That way it wouldn't make me so disgusted with the cost. You sure you don't mean 800km from 95L?

* Paveway-3 - no i think his are aftermarket too. I dont want to go forum fishing, but i'm pretty sure they are at least very similar. Maybe we might be able to hear word from the man himself.

* DigitaL - thats a nice car mate. I say keep it stock, then you have a wolf in sheeps clothing.

Thats what I've done with my corolla, I've kept it visually stock so I don't get picked up by the cops. I still cut the exhaust and sprayed it silver to make it look like a stainless system, and i'm just about to buy these mags for the car http://members.lycos.co.uk/tega71/wheels.jpg.

* Kat - okay.

Nah dude, getting between 400-450 max out of 95litres, however thats town driving, when I'm out on the highway it's a bit better, and I've also found that it's really good when offroad.

But yeah the 80 series cruisers are well known for their horrible fuel economy and in hindsight I should have gotten the turbo diesel version but I couldn't find any manuals and I wasn't gonna buy an auto 4wd.

Having said that sooner or later I wanna upgrade to a Nissan Patrol coil cab ute, one of the newer ones, turbo diesel fo shiz.

The guts of my car [308 (5.0L) v8 and Turbo 350] as it hangs from it's neck on an engine hoist while I prep it for painting (deep purple block - gold trans), 1 welsh plug repair and pulling heads off to rebuild it.

The car the above internals belong to as it stands at the moment.

lols my sister drives a charade, but I'm totally fine with how much fuel it uses, I bought it and knew what it was gonna be like. Nothing beats hearing that engine coming down off revs when offroading and just hearing the engine growl and rumble, much better then my old little 1.3ltr sierra where it was like *tappy tappy tappy neeeeee*

Whats the main differences between Soarers and the SC300's ?

From what ive seen "Soarers" are cheaper then the Lexus,. IMO i thought they were identical?

Didnt Lexus sell the SC300 and Toyota completely copy it just re-badged it? Or vice versa...

The interior look awesomly comfy, but the rear of that car looks like horrible (in my opinion) and so can't agree with you there, but i DO like the front.

KungFuCamel - Digital dashes look awesome and the guages look cool, do they get annoying at all [digital dashes] having to live with them all the time?

Digital - Sif get rid of the VT wagon for that!

* Yarris - thats great fuel economy. I bet you're proud of your car. I bet you smile at the bowser. I know I do on the odd occasion, if i havent had a relapse of my lead-foot-itis

* spoon - there's nothing worse than buying a car thinking that it will do good fuel economy and it ends up being bad. But if you know it'll drink, and you love it , then its justified. If i had a 308 like Lokis i wouldn't mind how much it drinks, just so long as i can get that Big V8 burble and roar out of it, and have rice boys s***ting their very tight pants.

* Loki - my dad had the same wheels on his 1976 LX fastback. They look good eh.

* maxe - armco? do you mean guard rails?

* whoop - what model Commodore? VB/VC/VH/VK/VL/VN/VP/VR/VS/VT/VX/VY/VZ?

* Strex - how many kays on the soarer? Jap delivered? When was it brought to aus? Hows the fuel economy?

* Kaygen - as far as i know, Lexus SC300s are US delivered, whilst Toyota Soarers are jap ones. Or the other way around. They are identical cars, but Lexus is the Luxury arm of Toyota.

* DigitaL - you had a Commodore? You sold it for that? I'm gonna cry...

Lexus SC300 is just what they call Soarers in the USA, and the V8 version is called SC400. They didnt get the TT model over there.

Hardware: Yeah the old SL/R hubcaps look pretty decent which is why I put em back on, only other option I'd consider would be convo pro's.
Worked 308 (particularly if I decide to take it to a 355 or 383 stroker) + 205's on the rear would get a little... too interesting at times I think.

It was brought to Australia in about 2000 I think, and owned by this 30+ year old guy (who I bought it off) and he looked after it really really well.
It's only done 96000k's and its perfect.

Fuel economy is really good (being non-V8), as long as I dont drive it on 'power' mode, which is hard...

Commodores have the three essential elements while not costing you too much money:

SPACE

PACE
and

GRACE

Oi slaps if you enjoy 4wdriving, come out to ormeau with me one time, some good stuff out there for some medium to extreme runs, I'd like to go out and hit up some of the harder stuff. Last time I was there we found the "tower of terror" track which reportedly only a few have made it down/up the rest rolled down, needless to say we didn't attempt it but it was still quite a feat to get to the actual track. But I wanna visit the waterfall and creek area because theres some sorta hard tracks there. hit me up if you wanna go out there sometime.

Yeah I had a VT, riced it a bit.. got old and I wanted something more rare that was good to work on.
I have been driving commodores
for a long time and without a doubt this is 100% more sporty and handles better than
any holden I have driven (VN-VR-VS-VT-VX-VY) this also goes for most imports.

and when this bitch gets the 1JZ transplant i will have a grin from ear to ear.

edit: found a pic of the VT

Are you doing the transplant yourself or just paying for someone to do it?

If you're doing it yourself, respect to you! Would be a pain in the ass with so much more to rewire and a stack less room to work with your hands under the hood of a newer car! [uhh newer compared to what I'm working with :P]

550-600km from 60L is fairly reasonable for a car of that size

ohrly? I get about 550km per tank (~60l) out of my baby:

Nah cheers spoon. The little Vitara has retired from serious hardcore 4wding. Strictly easy grade bushtracks since it bellied out at the glass hse mts. Had to get a Patrol to wrench the little c*** out of a rutted gulley.

Vitaras are great for commuting (fuel econmy++) and light 4wding but they just dont have the ground clearance or power to tackle the hard stuff even though they have the old skool ladder frame chassis and rear wheel drive with lockable front hubs.

In other words they kick a soft roaders arse but it couldnt hold a candle to your 80 series Cruiser.

Strex the front bar is not a 95 model, it's a 91-94, you can tell by the turning lights on the bottom sides instead of driving lights.

If you post the Japanese VIN which is also engraved on the firewall I can check the exact date of manufacture

EDIT :- V8 for the win

Nah there's a tank on each side, but the piping on the cool side turns back 180 degrees to run back up the passenger side. The ARC S13 kits are set up like this. Don't ask me why the previous owner had it done like this, he just did.

Arlf: is what a radar detector? and the plates are like that from the casing that PPQ supplied with them, only have themselves to blame!

I dont mind the lights - they look awesome at night, but like a pile of dicks in the day (re my ricer tail lights).

My car is not recreational - I also have a 4WD if I required boot space ;)

and yes they are both 10s - I was contemplating going 12s, but obviously didnt for personal reasons~ I wanted the amp with as much clearance from the top of the boot as possible for cooling purposes. the head unit was $500 reduced from something like $800 on boxing day (or the day after boxing day i cant remember). Post xmas sales ftw.

Orbs: Why would anyone make the IC piping longer than it has to be? Only RB owners run 1km of piping :P
That's just strange, you get much lag with that? Any plans on changing it with the fitment of a new turbo?

Not much extra lag no. that is, compared with a regular FMIC of the same size without the silly return piping. It's all extra weight though, and of course the longer the pipes, the more chance the air has to be heated up again after the cooler.

I've considered changing it, but since it really does work fairly well, it's hard to justify the cost when the money could be better spent elsewhere on the car. For instance, the 264in/264ex cams I'm just ordering :D

EniGma: As I said - it's where the BOV is connected to.

Edit: This is where it connects on a car with the standard side mount cooler and piping:

stinky: your brumby seems to be missing suspension! :P

enigma: HKS Step 1 in 264in 10mm lift, 264ex 10.5mm lift. There's more familiarity with HKS cams rather than Tomei here, plus I figured they were probably a good match to the HKS turbo. Going to stick with the stock springs for now, but I'll probably whack some rocker arm stoppers on top when the cam cover is off.

    Don't uderestimate the new Type-S.
Although they're meant to be heavier, it can match the Type R in a straight line if not beat it.

Having a modified intake and exhaust on the Type-R must have stuffed it cause the Type-S(totally stock) had a lead of 1 car length by the end of 300m.

I guess it'd be a different story through the twisties but it's UNDENIABLE that the Type-R sounds f***en horn.

Geezzzz EniGma, sounds like you know your Honda stuff, yes the type S can match the TypeR in terms of kw and has some added bling bling but come on!! no recaros? no leather momo ? no lsd? I would rather the AUS TypeR over the AUS TypeS and JDM spec is to die for.

Good on the current typeS owners though, it's still a very nice car.

I'd probably value the car itself at about $3k. Maybe less? The stereo is probably valued at $2.5k? So, I'm one of those fagot people whos car stereo is worth more than the car.

my o2 sensor is dying or dead, just cant be bothered replacing it. Its sitting in a groove so that you can barely get a spanner in there unless you do it from the top, which is where the exhaust manifold sits.

I'm currently saving for a Yamaha FZR250 but its gonna take me a while. Argh hate being broke

Boxhead don't get the RS250 not because of the power, but because its a 2 stroker. If I was doing mech eng I'd consider it (service and look after it myself). Whats wrong with a bit of power? And its still nothing power wise compared to a litre bike.

I think the FZR250 is more suited to taller people (Im 6'2") but Im gonna check out my mates CBR250R anyway. Im a little bit tempted by the RGV250 (same engine as the RS250) but it probably more hassle than its worth.

Booked into QRide for next week, cant wait! YAY!@

Goody, you wouldnt want my knees, they have enough problems as it is :P

I'd suggest if you were seriously getting into it, go with something cheap through Ls and Ps, then when you got experience, 600cc supersport :)

I'd suggest a Kawasaki ZZR250 or Suzuki across.
The CBR250 is way overprice imo.

That Ninja was voted the worlds best bike in the 600cc class, even beating the R6 and the Duc. I'd still take the Duc thanks :) Italian trash all the way!

I got to have a life outside of studying for my op 11 - sux2bu :P

PS Anyone who worries about QCS = sad - I got an A easily (in reference to whoever it was hoping his QCS grade wouldn't lose him an OP 1).

Its not funny being born with a spoon in your mouth. I also refuse to believe that your parents will buy you a $70,000 car at the end of highschool, so I say your full of s***.

Anyway, Personally I prefered the ZZR250 if the CBR and the FZR. The FZR that I rode was loose into corners in the back end, kinda sloppy handling, didnt apprecitate it. CBR are a good bike, but make sure you have strong wrists and a small ass to ride one, I used to ride on for a few months before I got my license, was fun but dont do a long ride.

ZZR250 is good because its a sports cruiser, its god almost as much go as the CBR but its got a bigger fuel tank and its SOOOOO much more comfy on the big rides, and it handles quite well. It kept me alive doing 130km/h one night down samford range when the back slid on gravel, but somehow I kept it upright, I say it was the bike, not the rider :P

Anyway, thats my biased rant towards the ZZR250. I used to own one, but after coming so close to death in one ride, I ended up selling it. I will get another one one day, but there are things too important to me at the moment to get killed on a bike. But god I miss the ride :(

    Cages = safe
Lack of power = heaps of cars faster than bikes
Traffic Jams = They are usually scraping someone off the road from a bike accident.

Clearly they dont with comments like that. I had no interest in the OP score, I did only 1 day of the QCS, and didnt show up to most classes.

Not because im not intelligent, but because I was working and getting real life skills, which is why I own uni students in job interviews.

All the OP system shows, is a student who pushes themselves to get lots and lots and lots of theory and no practical experiance.

I don't really know how this thread became about OP's, but to have my say they don't neccesarily show intelligence (they do to some extent) they show how much determination and work you put in while you are at school.

I can't rember what they were, I think they were 240z's but the difference between 240z/260z/280z is mostly the engine and a few minor things I can never tell from a picture.*Me looks for pictures of VH45DETT powered 240z*

No excuses - Hyundai is the lowest of the low - they are only just starting to get acceptable with the brand new ones.

The 240z and 260z are very similar - but I'd be almost certain that those are 260z's. 280z's are actually very different.
