Hey anyone here flog about on dirt bikes in their spare time? I'm just wondering about prices on older bikes for beginners and whatnot, I'm not worried if it would need some work done too it but I have nfi on any prices or what certain models are like.

Also is there many places to ride around brisbane, well within sort of 2hr radius?

it kinda depends on how big you are, what size bike you want and what you want to do with it.

I dont know I weigh around 70 and am 5'9 but in regards to bike size, I dont know, I'm not sure what CC I'd be after as a beginner, but really all I wanna do with it is ride around some tracks, I wont be doing any crusty demons style s***, just riding round some common tracks.

I know f*** all, teahc me plz.

get a 250cc road/trail, try and get a 4 stroke for reliability.
250cc will be heaps for you, you cant legally learn on anything bigger anyway (do q-ride and you can be unrestricted in a heartbeat tho')

I used to ride around the forestry trails of the glasshouse mountains, being on the northside & having a registered traily & a licence. I don't ride much at all atm coz my xr needs its head gasket replaced & parts are expensive... as is mechanic labour. but eventually i'll get it done myself!@#
pictured here is about to be disassembled :D

As stated get a ~250 Four stroke as a beginner, or a tame 2 stroker.

Don't get motocross or enduro style bikes until you are well practised.

XR250 or similar would be a good start.

We got an old yamaha 175 for up at the farm for paddock bashing, paid $400 for it and it has survived many crashes while on the piss :P
