I have 2 pcs connected with a crossover cable and therefore I have to use static IPs. ICS doesn't work with static IPs so I wanted to know if anyone has used good, free software to share the net.
THanks. |

I have 2 pcs connected with a crossover cable Wrong. A crossover cable is network layer medium. ICS is application layer medium. Meaning: If you use a hub or switch or even if you use a crossover cable this has nothing to do with how you must assign ip's in either static or dynamic mode. ICS doesn't work with static IPs Wrong. In your properties for your network adaptor that you need to assign staticly change the tcp/ip properties to the below Ip- 192.168.0.x (x being a number from 2-253) Subnet Mask- 255.255.255.0 Gateway- 192.168.0.1 You can also set your dns to your ICS machine (your gateway) if you are getting slow dns resolutions on your client pc's. last edited by James at 17:30:55 18/Feb/05 last edited by James at 17:31:19 18/Feb/05 |
