I'm looking at buying some things off ebay in the US. I was wondering if there is some way I can cash in my leftover US travellers cheques and then buy the goods but keep the money in US dollars.
I'm trying to do this because each time you exchange money the friendly banks take their bit and as I already have the travellers cheques in US dollars it is a bit annoying to have to convert it back to Australian then back to American. Sorry if all that is confusing but any help would be appreciated. |

some banks have foreign currency accounts. see your bank if they offer it.
i am not sure if you can, but than deposit your travellers cheques in there. use your new US bank account for your US purchases. probably a bit messy (ie you now have another bank account), but if you dont want to have to transfer from US to AUD to US, this might be an option for you. |

Thanks, I'll have to look into that and see what I can do. I think either way it's going to be messy, oh well.

I was going to suggest changing your US travellers cheques into US currency at any foriegn exchange until I realised you were buying off ebay.
That's all I could think of, sorry I couldn't be more help. |
