Don't bother with it, pay the extra and get the Dvico one with analogue in (not the standard version). Top notch card, I have one, and I know plenty of ppl who do, all very happy.

ah.. if you just want hdtv and you have a reasonably powerful processor the bt878 will do just fine (the brooktree chip that card is based on). Couple of kernel modules, a compile from the bleeding edge myth tv cvs repository and you have yourself a linux based pvr that's totally legal here in .au :)

just remember, if you're following the guides online for a linux installation of the visionplus you need the dst module installed before your sp* module. Learnt that the hard way.

if you have a silicon image SATA controller on your mobo, dont even bother... thats my problem, it makes the vision stutter all the time...

Ok, so i took groydis advice and checked out http://forums.dvbowners.com/

Might not have alot of info on the cards themseleves but sure does show you what issues are common. Vision plus have a lot of people complaining about sound issues.

Dvico have people complaining that they rip to much and need more hard drive space. Dvico for the win i guess.

What often drives my purchasing habbit though is...price.

Vision plus HDTV card plus remote is on sale at umart for $110 bucks http://umart.net/au/product_info.php?products_id=1137

Computer alliance are selling the Divico card plus remote for $169
http://www.computeralliance.com.au/parts.aspx?qryPart=3939

Anyone know where i can get the Dvico card cheaper, I take it you guys reckon its worth the extra 60 bucks. also...why would i pay more to get analouge with my hdtv card? kinda defeats the purpose of digital doesnt it?

Analogue means you can capture through RCA, hence VCR, console, etc. I've also been told there is a difference beyond that between the standard and lite versions of the card, one of the guys at work returned the lite version in favour of standard because he had issues with it.

i bought the DIvco lite, and installed all the latest drivers (for my vid card and DIvco card) and s*** the picture is jumpy. anyone else had this/solved it?

the faq says there could be irq conflict...whats that? would changing the pci slot really help?

cheers.

if i knew what irq was i would tell you.

The really homosexual thing is that i have no other cards in pci slots. Just a graphics card in the agp slot....so the only pci card is the DVico...how could it conflict with nothing?

We use the Compro Videomate DVB-T300 at work.

We put it into all of our Windows Media Centre PC's.

Basically our company did a lot of fricking around with different TV tuner cards to see what works best with the media centre software and this was the pick of the litter and it's HDTV.

So i emailed DVico, and the reply was a rehash of the FAQ... very unhelpful. He sent a picture of the IRQ list in device manager... what can i change in their? i mean there is nothing you can in device managers IRQ listing is their?

onboard devices use IRQ's, and so does your AGP card. What PCI slot are you currently using? Try another one.

Evil1 please go here and download everest 5.1, its a program like si soft sandra but alot better and will tell you all your IRQ woes.

Also try setting the FusionHDTV priority in task manager to high. See if that helps, because understandably HDTV is a bit of a system hog.

On another note what are peoples' thoughts on the USB version of the DVICO? it seems to have the some functionality as the lite version for all intensive purposes, but do you think its worth shelling out the extra cash (at $250) to get a more portable version that can easily be used not only in your desktop, but also laptops and other desktop systems? I suppose it really depends on personal usage, but I suppose what I am really asking is would anyone here personally bother paying the extra to get the USB version?

Changing the pci slot of the card doesnt make a difference, i have tried it at the top and bottom of my pci slots, currently i have it running in the first slot. I rang computeralliance tech support and the guy said he had the exact same problem when he bough his and its just a gay card, have to take it back....f***.

A7N8x is the same motherboard as what I have, and supprise, it has a SIL3212 or something chip on it... but... if you're not using SATA, just disable it and you'll be allright.

Do it in the BIOS.

Also, get the BDA drivers from the forum I linked you to and download Digitalwatch and Web Scheduler.

Then, you'll be swoit.

go into bios, its most probably under integrated peripherals or something

i'n not at home right now, so I dont know... but it would be described as either Sil311x SATA controller, or like "SATA" or "SATA Controller"
