Today I finally had my new PC finished today (with the help of Reverend Evil and the lovely people at C.A.) after a number of problems with faulty ram etc.Im now running a Pentium 3.4 with 2 gig of ram and an Albatron G Force 6600GT (128 meg,pci express).Everything is running sweet except now when i boot up im getting a Nvidia window popping up telling me due to a lack of power, the graphics card is lowing its settings. Now what gets me is i have a 470 watt power supply but the graphics card doesnt have a "port" to attach a power cable too (as did my old Radeon 9800XT).If anyone has any ideas as to what i can do about this id appreciate them.

Seeing as the board is pci-express, the psu uses a different type of connector. When i got mine from umart, the guy told me to take off the smaller one so i would be using the bigger one (it had a connector from the bigger sized down to the smaller sized) (i cant remember the exact pin number)
Then i also had to, take a sticker off the power connector on the board that was blocking the extra four holes, does your board have that? and if so, have you removed that so the connector from the psu is using all the slots? Ive got some big f***off 550w codegeon for my pc, the only one umart had. Boy did i feel silly when i was about to walk out with a 400w normal psu with a bunch of pci-express stuff. I asked the fella, and hes like ahaha nah, you need this big one hehe :( for the record P4 lga 775 3.0ghz 512 ram gigadyke something or other albatron 6600gt pci-express Mine also has some weird issue with the power. Sometimes when i turn the pc off overnite, i have to flick the switch at the back and leave it off for like 5-10 secs and flick it back to on before i can get power, because if i just press the on button, on the case sometimes it wont work. WHy is that? |

Codegen :S, with my experience you'll be replacing that one shortly.
The new PCI-E mobos use 24pin connectors, instead of the 20pin ones. My Antec 550W is going strong (EPS model or something), came with the proper connector. Though your 470W should be sufficient - what brand is it? The Abatron's don't need an extra connector - are you doing something similar to above? Using the mobo connector from the psu that isn't really suited for that board? |

OK...lets see if i get all this right...
My power supply is an Enermax 470W EG475SP-SFMA Power Supply (my mother board has the 24 pin slot for the power supply and the power supply has the 24 pin connector).Twice now ive removed the graphics card it has no molex connectors on it.I cant find anything in the Bios concerning voltage settings. I just gave the guys at C.A. a call about this and they have no idea too. |

try getting a good 500W PSU
OFF-TOPIC: also the Pentium LGA 775 3.4 produce alot of heat we regularly get customers comming back to the shop where i work biching about how the CPU temp hits 80 then shuts its self down, so make sure u have plenty of fans and a PSU capable of supporting everything, i would go atleast 500W.... one last thing SIFnt buy AMD 64 /offtopic last edited by Irhabi at 12:54:03 30/Jan/05 |

I'd only go Leadtek, Asus or Sapphire these days. Maybe the GexCube ones too. And what's the deal with The Disc Shop selling Daytona video cards? Sounds like a card Crazy Clarks would sell.

I would try another quality power supply (either from a friend or take it into the shop). Despite the Enermax supplies usually being top-notch, perhaps yours has compatibility problems with that motherboard, or perhaps you've got a borked PSU.
As Burgz said, check you removed the pin block on the 24-pin ATX connector. Also check that the video card is properly seated in the PCI-E slot (remove and reinstall). A 6600GT should have no problems getting the power it needs from a PCI-E slot. |

Problem fixed....i took my system back to C.A. and we tried a few differant graphics cards, with the same result. So i traded in my 470W power supply for a Tagan 550W and everything came up Milhouse =)
Shame they dont mention the required power supply on the box, would have saved alot of hassle. |

Awesome news my girlfriend.
Man, you've had some serious bad luck this last week getting that machine up and running but it's good to hear everything's cool. So what did you end up getting to fix the thing up? Let me guess, it was the video card? 8-) |

Power supply dude....the 470W one wasnt churning out the juice i needed.Got a 550W one now,and no complaints about the graphics card, was just the lack of power that was the problem.
