Carema tricks for sure... Check the sheer quantity of water moving over that whitewash. No wonder some dude broke his leg forward at the last hawaii open and had it hitting him in his forhead all the way to the surface/nearest jetski.

Billabong Odessey is f***ing cool. Always out at work too, along with Blue Crush. That movie is never in for more than a day.

$10 says thats fake,

The pressure from the spray from a wave that big would knock him off.

I heartily recommend grabbing a copy of "Step Into Liquid" on DVD. Some of the footage in that is insanely awesome, like Laird Hamilton big wave surfing, and footage of a whole bunch of guys surfing a 70ft wave.

Step Into Liquid - very cool movie. Convinced me to go for some surfing lessons. So far 5 decent waves caught and no concussion = win. :)

that was the filming of the extreme movie that came out for i-max

chopper didn't nearly get taken out, but a guy did die

held down for 3 50+ foot waves in france, what chance do you have

i went down the coast today for asurf, it was f***ING pumping, 5foot+ syko crazy barrels

then it turned northerly and they started closing out.. i got f***ed up =(

nice grazes on my back from hitting the bank lol

Its not fake. You gotta check out billabong odysey. These dudes are bats*** insane and go searching for these waves all over the world.

The strap their feet to the board so they dont get knocked off too.

One of the coolest things on odyssey was this new surfboard (kind of... they sit down on top of a hydrofoil basically) somone or other is testing which has a hydrofoil on the bottom so they can get a super smoothe ride + get propelled by the under current so swell can be ridden...

now That's Awesome surfing, this other s*** you see on small waves can DIAF as it's boring... straight, turn flick, straight turn flick... repeat x10.
It's cool when they get air off the top though, otherwise, those huge ass waves are the only surfing that impresses me :)

Yea, that's actually Mike Parsons he's a demon. Won the billabong XXL one year for a 66 foot wave, the one shown in Step Into Liquid.

Billabong Odyssey is awesome s***. The wave in the clip was during a big wave surfing competition. He wiped out on a similar wave just before it.

And existence is right, best feeling in the world. Surf has been off the wall this week!

I'm not debating whether it's fun TO surf, I'm saying it's boring as all f*** to watch - there is nothing about it that excites me, fall off, land in water oh noes watch out!

Surfing might be a sport, but unless you're doing insane waves like this, it's not what I'd call extreme.
