What are school dances like these days?
Which are the most popular ones? I remember churchie and bbc used to be the big ones back in the mid 90's.

Coming from category d. i am just curious. discuss.

Yes they still do..

i work as a DJ for statewide entertainment - we do a large percentage of the high schools in brisbane.

The biggest ones from memory are Ashgrove Marist Bro's (2000 ppl) & St Aidens (the last few have been getting above 1600 people). St Lawrences gets close to 1000 so does All Hallows. Nudgee dances are also quite large, but we havent done them for a few years (they use Club MM now). From memory we used to do BBC, but theyve started hiring their own equipment and doing it themselves, and since then their numbers have dropped a bit. Not sure what the story is with churchie. my boss has all the figures i can find out if u really need to know.

nudgee socials back in year 10 used to be massive when they were years 10 - 12, but last year when they changed into junior (8-9) middle (10) and senior (11-12) dances the numbers were cut down alot, from over 1000 to about 500 - 600 people max

ahhh back in the day....

we always went blind to socials when i was at wynnum high, it made it so much more fun

(and for some made it viable to dance with yr 8-9s)

school dances should have been erased in the 60's when people stopped being so anal and actually did their own socialising

these days i think they're a bit old hat for the kiddies, so they spice it up with drugs and/or secks =)

^ you're a fag (lol)

Pretty sure when I was still at school BBC had ppl from B105 DJ the dances. Some funny stories taht in retrospect I am sure were BS... thanks god that I had a good lady friend to get me "through" most experiences.

i like the english ones....

on that note tho - there used to be some fairly hot chicks in costume etc at the nudgee ones before the new administration came in in 01 and got strict on dress codes

the first one in the big hall at nudgee was awesome - absolutly packed, all socials seemed to have died down a bit during and after 02 tho, and that was my last year, so at least i got the good ones ^_^

my school still has dances

anyway, they keep holding dancing even after having ppl turning up pissed, stoned (onsite police now apparantly + security walking around the school), people getting bashed, and someone got stabbed/slashed (not sure, prolly slashed) at one last year and we even made it into the news paper with a comic strip about the kid getting slashed & offender getting taken away by police

And out of all of those people, 100% are/were students of the school coz they dont let outsiders in.

Also with school uniforms, why do (mainly private scools) seem to want girls to have their skirts as long as possible (and are uk scools kinkier? ^^), and boys to have their shorts as short as possible? double standards.. :/ i wear trousers, like 1 in 50 at my scool wear em, especially in summer, although its a public school
