Just wondering if any of you ever used to, or still do play any MUDs? For those that don't know, they're text based RPG games run through a telnet interface.

I play on one called Avatar, been playing now for nearly 7 years.. try it here :)

Used to.....last MUD I seriously played has now degenerated into a talker for all us hardcore guys.....we just use it as a way to chat online.

That was Dark Realms (was based at UTS in Sydney).....I also had a go at Tsunami, Wheel of Time, Discworld and a couple of others. Ive done a bit of world building for a couple of MUDs too but they are now defunct.

Superform, on Avatar there's 3 "tiers", with a fourth coming in soon..
low mortal - level 1 - 50
hero - hero 1 to hero 999
lord - lord 1 to lord 999

I have a few chars, highest at the moment is lord 150ish

Yea, I play MUD's heaps...

I play Discworld and a RP-enforced MUD called ShadowGate

Discworld I have a level 200 wizard

hahaha i use to play the discworld mud.. years ago.

i could get get into mud's, i tried out Major Mud on a couple BBS's about 10yrs ago but after about 30mins just went back to playing doom2 DM :D

Discworld I played for 2 years until some assasin randomly hacked my limbs off, then I started playing Materia Magica that was pretty sweet. Anyone here used an acctual proggie to play or just through telnet/java interface

Ben, I had a look at the site for ShadowGate, almost looks cool but I'm not a fan of strict d&d rules.. Also don't like strict RP... Avatar seems to have more depth to gameplay though.

Sover, I use a program called zMud which is great for creating triggers/macros/aliases etc :)

Discworld has levels above 50-100, Up to like 500. Dunno if you'd give that MUD a go. Just a suggestion. Don't know many other MUDs that come to mind. Could always have a look through http://www.mudconnector.com however there is a fark load of MUDs in there to choose from.

I used to play Medievia, since 1996 - I dont play it anymore I play WoW.

As for mudclients check out MudMaster http://www.mud-master.com both in console version and gui version - written by a good friend of mine!
