I've been snagging images from the bom.gov.au's weather site for the last couple of days after deciding I'd never really seen any footage of weather patterns for more than a few frames at a time (either on their site or on the news).
I made a small movie out of it: http://trog.qgl.org/up/weather.avi (5mb) Low quality: http://trog.qgl.org/up/weather2.avi (1mb) I was hoping to have more but the power went out on the box collecting the images over the weekend so I have to start again. Updated again 05/02/2005: weather4, 9th Jan through to 4th Feb. |

cool as, but it would be better if it was less then 1mb per second of footage...
btw, how long would have the resulting movie been going for it you didnt loose power? last edited by Jerry at 11:04:58 10/Jan/05 |

That's pretty cool Hogfather. Actually, trog, if you starting up again this week it should be interesting as there is a category 3 Cyclone approching the east cost of AU. Should give some interesting weather map. Hopefully it dissipated as it's looking pretty nasty out in the ocean at the moment.

We've put one together in decent rez from 7th at 2:30pm to today at 1:30pm - including Cyclone Kerry charging at Australia.
Unfortunately its 14 megs and I don't have any space to put it on - if I upload it to our business server and link it here I can imagine some nasty looks from the boss. Anyone ( TROG? :P ) got some hostage? :) last edited by Hogfather at 16:12:40 10/Jan/05 |

Sweet thanks for that Opec. Got it down to about 3meg too! Kerry.mpg Can see another big cyclone / low pressure system off the west coast in that too. |

That is a cool idea. Let us know when you have a longer video. It is much cooler than those couple of frames that you referred to that the weather reports show us.

^^^ Awesome. I loved the bit where the cyclone Kerry dissipated ! It's the 1st time that I've seen the weather pattern that's longer than 4 frames :) Thanks trog.

Mt Buller recorded snowfall and temps below zero during the week - Wednesday saw Melb hit a max temp of 13 - the coldest ever recorded in Melbourne's history.
