Just got a pack of dvds from the disc shop - at the top of the list on their website:
Cat: DVM-Bulk-50+r (they come in + or - packs for $24/50 - white printable surface) Just tried burning a dvd, each disc burns perfectly, no errors - then stick in multiple dvd players and none will play the discs, tried another brand - and it worked fine. Also the surfaces are smooth, but sticky, you put your finger down for more then a second or so and you can feel the stickyness when you lift it! To identify these disks, they seem to be called 'Bulkpak' - the Bulk is orange, the pak is white, and with a black rectangle surrounding, and the rest is grey (sept for disc info writing) Ill be f***ed in teh ass before i buy that brand again, and the mouth also. So, what other brands to steer clear from? |

any DVDR that costs less than $1 per disc is usually crap.

when i was in the disk shop again trying to find disks that will work i was talking to a guy there and he said that with the cheaper disks you can buy a bunch and they will work, and then you get more later (i.e. a different batch) and they don't work.
On the subject of getting disks that will work, the guy recommended the DVM-RIT (ritek ones)... I asked if they were 8x and he said they were, my burner detects them as only 4x... although they do work which is a bonus :/ the dodge disks i bought were ul-tran btw last edited by rodolphe at 21:06:12 29/Dec/04 |

warez send you to jail, warezing something as gay as the oc should get you immediately put to death. I still have a full (I think) pack of shintaro or something, they're shiny on both sides. They're pretty good. I hardly ever use em though so can't vouch for the different batch theory.

not that i know of - unless nero does it automaticallyI dont know about default, but I know theres a checkbox to enable it, maybe you should do that for the first few dvd's when you buy a new spindle. |

Strathfield DVD blanks are awesome. I've burnt around 20 discs full since last week and not one has f***ed up on me. They also look very professional with the top label they have and cost about $0.70 each and come in spindles of 50 at 4x or you can get the 8x ones but they are about double the price. Chicken feed really when you know they are reliable discs.

the warez compared to stealing handbag analogy is stupid... entirely diferent crimes... yes both are stealing but it could be assumed that stealing a handbag generally involves violence or breaking and entering etc, warez is white collar crime i guess...
btw i am not condoning piracy |

Considering how much of a mission it is to find torrents since suprnova went down, stealing cars and handbags is much more appealing.

If we get caught, we're not going to white-collar resort prison. No, no, no. We're going to federal POUND ME IN THE ASS prison. |

I only use Taiyo Yudens.
Never had one problem with them, but they are a bit expensive. |
