at the same lan they are trying to break the world record for the most pron swapped at a lan of 10 terabytes in a 24 hour period.

The smell that many lanners would make would be immense.

Yes, i just looked at the temp and it is 3C and rain everywhere.
Me and a few friends are thinking about going up to Jönköping to check it out later today.

thats pretty impressive, but knowing how hard/straining it gets running a 400+ person LAN, or even something like WCG-AU, id hate to think about running something over 10 times the size :/

but its not something you can do linearly.

theres also now ten times the network size, ten times the power output, ten times the infrastructure.

its one thing running a 1 switch 50 port lan, a multiple (sif i know off by heart) switch 500 person lan, and then a 5000 person lan which has to be fully maintained throughout.

Anyone who may feel like a trip over to England at this time may want to take a small "side-trip" to Sverige and join in. It is an hour flight from Heathrow to Göteborg/Stockholm then a few hours drive. If you are interested, i can possibly hook you up with transport from Göteborg.

Just a few minutes ago officials confirmed that the highest number of players on a gameserver was 1160 today here at Dreamhack playing Counterstrike on a Unisys ES7000 server.

Guinness also confirmed that Dreamhack is the biggest LAN party ever, beating QuakeCon with more than double the visitors at 5272 paying attendees and 5852 computers in the Local Area Network!
