Topic: $200 credit for Telstra Mobile customers?

Telstra will announce a rival deal for Queensland's pre-paid customers today – two days before Vodafone's launch – offering new and existing customers $200 credit for next month.

New users will have to buy a pre-paid pack with mobile telephone before August 30 to qualify for the deal, and existing users will need to register online.

Telstra consumer marketing head Jenny Young said the $200 credit could be used for voice calls, SMS and MMS messages and the Queensland-only deal was designed to counter Vodafone's campaign.

Can't see any registration forms on the Telstra site yet. Sounds like an awesome freebie if it's true.

Just went nextdoor to check it out (Telstra store at foot of building where I work)

Cheapest prepaid you can get from Telstra is a Nokia for $99. $200 Credit will be applied to your phone 1st September

Seeing as I need a new phone (battery is held on with rubber band heh), this is perfect.

I honestly don't see the need for all the extra s*** on phones these days. All I use a phone for is making a phone call. If I feel the need to text someone, I'll use EMAIL

VG Cats say it all

and what else rocks? Telstra's dropped the price of MMS to 50c now as well... that's for both picture & video mms - the picture mms is staying at that level until further notice, but the video mms will go back up again in a month or two's time...

Telstra just sent my prepaid a text message saying all I have to do is to register on a website that they sent and I would recieve the $200 credit as an existing user.

As a valued Pre-Paid Customer, Telstra is offering you $200 Pre Paid Credit to use for voice calls, text or picture messagingto ANY phone this September

All you have to do is register by August 30th

We’ll get your credit to you by September 2nd 2004 and send you an SMS as soon as it hits your account. Your bonus credit must be used by September 30th 2004 .

So you have one month to use $200?
Wouldnt people using that kind of volume be on a plan already to get cheaper calls? Unless they are drug dealers i guess ;p

I guess mebe, but this is how Telstra is combating Vodaphones pre-paid promotion this weekend.

I use prepaid cause I don't usually make that many calls an I don't want to be tied down to a contract that makes me pay X no matter how many calls I make. I'm not a compulsive mobile phone user. To me a mobile is a handy device to use when I can't get to a landline. Even when I'm out of credit, I can still recieve calls.

While I don't normally make that many calls on my mobile, if I have $200 worth of credit to use I will. Be a good time to call that friend I have in Sth Africa and my relatives up north without it costing me a cent

Sounds good to me!!

Yeah i know if you have it you will use it, and thats what telstra are counting on.. you getting used to making lots of calls and maybe changing to an expensive contract. But hell, thats what advertising is all about.

keep an eye out - you might still get an invite... apparantly the invite went out to something like 255,000 QLD Pre-paid Plus subscribers today.. It's a pretty groovy deal, although you a) had to have had an active Pre-paid Plus service as off August 17th or b) have to purchase a new handset kit between now & aug 28/30 (something to that effect) & activate it...pretty snazzy offer, although there were lots of disapointed ppl at work today when they found out you had to be an existing TPP customer before aug 17 to get the offer :D

Say - there's new Telstra mobile plans coming at the start of sept too.. we got a quick glimpse of them, before the info got pulled in case it got leaked - all we know is they're being launched on sept 8th.. Who knows what pricing etc they'll have..
