Trackmania Sunrise has hit Retail Australia, ~$55 bux at Harvey Normans

16/03/2005

Demo! http://www.ausgamers.com/files/details/html/15819

11/01/2005

For gamers who want to zoom along the California coast without all that pesky reality getting in the way, TrackMania Sunrise may fit the bill. The TrackMania sequel will be released in North America in June of 2005 for PCs, the game's publisher, Enlight, revealed today. The developer, Nadeo, stocked TrackMania Sunrise with three new sports cars, multiplayer and solo race modes, customizable tracks and environments set along the Pacific Coast, and a peer-to-peer network community.
Wow, it's taken forever, and the game has only just been given a US release date, there are some new screenshots for Trackmania Sunrise, and they look friking amazing.

For anyone who played and maybe even enjoyed the game Trackmania, Nadeo are working on a sequal titled "Trackmania Sunrise", and looks like its orentated to an arcade style road racing game more than a "stunts" breed of game...

oh hay http://www.digitaljesters.com/index.php?txtShow=product&ref=13

The high octane, free wheeling insanity that is Trackmania returns to PC CDROM. Trackmania Sunrise takes everything that made the original an instant online classic – amazing speed, ultra competitive multiplayer races and easily accessible tools to create and distribute outrageous tracks – and still manages to add more and more.

New sports cars that burn up the highways at a breathtaking 400kph as they tear around gorgeous new environments including the beauty of the Pacific Coast. The most insane stunt blocks ever, send perilous track building to a whole new level with sweeping bends, winding tunnels and ramps designed to send you soaring. Two new play modes – Platform and Crazy – mean that even the most experienced of trackmaniacs will face a totally fresh racing experience.

A new day has dawned… are you up for the challenge?

Features
  • Exhilarating new vehicles that can reach an incredible 400kph.
  • Stunning new environments to screech around.
  • Two new solo modes: Platform and Crazy
  • An integrated peer-to-peer network for exchanging player creations.
  • Fully customisable car skins and player avatars.
  • Extensive content support from an existing online community.
  • Minimal tech spec requirements.
  • Really fast cars driving on outrageous tracks in a beautiful setting.

For those who played #1...

Did many of you nearly break something when you got to that big 45degree angle one, with the reversed turbo-pad at the top?
Only had a few wood tiles and 2 turbo-pads to place.

It gave me the s***s ... so I cheated :)
I had nothing...

that game looks fricking awsome... never even heard of the first one, will have to track it down and give it a go. Reminds me of stunts, especially with being able to create your own tracks.

the trick was to get enough speed by making a short loop with a turbo off to the side of the start, going around it a few times, and then once reaching the point where you get shot back, you need to do a 180, and you get pushed up backwards.

Rather than create a new thread for this, I decided to cast Forum Necromancy and provide additional content to the initial post instead.

Yeah, I meant the actual game crashing, I wasn't the only one and apparently lots of people had troubles with it or something, there was a patch to fix it I think; I can't remember if it actually fixed it - or if it even was a patch and I found some other issue and fixed that...
*shrugs*
Either way it used to crash a bit for me.

The way to fix the original from crashing was not to run it in highest detail, set it down one and you could play right thru. It still looked just as good anyway, it was just some stupid bug in the game.

Man, SFR2 on 64 was actually the GREATEST game ever made. Until you reminded me, I had forgotten all about it. I played the stunt track (the multicolour one with all the ramps and poles and bridges and stuff) for about 3 weeks non-stop. It was also the ONLY video game I have ever gotten my Dad to play. We used to have score challenges.

Ah, 64, how I miss you...

Sunrise Beta Demo download - 11-02-2005
The TrackMania Sunrise Beta Demo has now been released for download. To say thank you to all the loyal TrackMania fans, Nadeo is giving all the fans a little treat in the form of an early look at TrackMania Sunrise. The Beta Demo gives players the chance to try two of the new Sunrise environments as well the modes expected in the final game.

Note: You need a TrackMania CD to be able to play this Beta Demo

Downloading now...although it sucks that you need the original game to play the demo. Also, the mirror sites all suck complete ass.

Anyway...man this game is gonna rock!!!!

The first trackmania was cracked pretty well straight away, but I don't think any of the patches that were released later on ever got touched. I downloaded the game while waiting for my CD copy to arrive from the UK (10 very long days), the online play made for a very worthwhile purchase.

It took ages for them to get an australian distributor for the first game, and I will probably be buying sunrise the same way I did last time.

I got out rush 2 a few weeks ago and had a few races. Holy crap the fog is worse than I remember. I'd hate to see Rush 1's fog. Still an awesome game, I almost had all keys and mountain dew cans until my memory card f***ed up.

All new fast mirrors for the betademo. No patch hosting available as far as I can tell. (on local mirrors)

laffo... oops. I actually find the 3dgamers download and browsing system really nice. It looks good and isnt too busy and you dont have to click that many pages. One for the game, one for the download section, one for the mirrors, then you are downloading. I mean, how else could you do it :P

Is the multiplayer TCP/IP? Or is there some sorta ghey matchmaking service?

I'm tempted to pick it up...

From the demo, it seems like it supports both TCP/IP and UDP, preferring the latter. You basically start off by choosing a Location to play in (world cities where people's servers are located), and then picking individual servers from that city. This allows you to pick out local servers easier.

I'm not sure how the full version works, though .. but I'd be surprised if it were different.
