i picked up an rc car yesterday, comes with charger and pack (it's the tamiya subaru wrc 2003).

what i need to know is... can i charge the 9.6v battery pack with my car battery? and if so how would i go about it? and if anyone knows, how long would it take to charge?

yes you can... normally they take about 12 - 15 minutes i think.

oh and to do it you just need to grab a car battery recharger.. i remember them being pretty cheap (like $15 maybe - from hobby one or something like that).. they are just a small set of jumper leads with a battery clip on one end.

yes you can, its the fastest way to do it.

Also, if you want to ahve lots of fun, just get two batteries and connect them both to the car at the same time - car will be LOTS faster.

I did it with one of my old cars, and man did the thing burn rubber then, was sweet. The motor got really really really hot, but still, if your not to fussed go for it.

15mins to charge, dont leave it too long after that or it will just fry the plastic casing,

is it the TL01 model you got?, if your after some parts give me a email at ex0du5@dodo.com.au, I have WRC 2001 model (its just the shell that is diffrent in most case) so as long as the chassis is TL01 i have some stuff u might be interested in.
Off the top of my head i have

TL01 TurnBuckle Set (metal stearing rods with adjusters).
Tl01 Speed Tuned Gear Set
TL01 Sports Tuned Motor.
Ball Bearing Set ( metal bearings for wheels instead of the plastic ones, gives a realy good speed/performance boost)
and a TA04 Drive Shaft Set., which for the life of me i cant remember what that is, it could be the low profile tyres/silver rims.

probably 2 x 9.6v Eagle Batteries not so good pyhsical condition but work fine.

and 2 tubes of various grease for the gears etc.

Oh and Foam Inserts for the tyres, helps with both suspension and grip as the tyres dont deflate/warp when u go around a corner sharply.

i've been after a rc car for ages... how much did you get yours for audio-tone? i want a petrol one though!

my little beast, bough it a few weeks ago.. 2 speed auto, force 15 engine, nitro mix.. on-road use only

already rebuilt the rear diff a few times, its constant AWD .. but you can remove the front transaxel (the equivilant) and make it RWD only, but you have a tough enough time keeping traction with AWD

good fun, was about $350 at any toyworld, including the starter kit (remote control, 1l of pre-mixed nitro fuel, servo-s etc)

Aren't the batteries 7.2V ?
