That documentary was actually pretty good actually... becks was kicking them over from 50+ in no time and johnny was bending them from outside the 18yard box pretty quickly too...

yeah it was an impressive little piece. Though i think Jonny picked it up a little quicker than Becks, and I think goalkicking takes less skill than free kicks in soccer.

In the Sweden - Netherlands game it went to a penalty shoot out, and one of the sweedes kicked it straight over the top bar, and the commentator went "He beckhamed it!!".

Yeah hopefully the nation doesnt let the few bad things of late over ride the MANY brilliant things he has done for them. He has won a hell of a lot more games for them then he has lost thats for sure. Aint been playing to well of late though...

That documentary was qaulity... And yes you are right, free kicks are a LOT LOT harder then conversions. Kicking from 50 aint that hard either, i did it in grade 9 and im a soccer player.

Kicking from 50 aint that hard either, i did it in grade 9 and im a soccer player.

I have thrown a full court toss on the bball courts more then once when I played back in grade 8 and 9, but I don't go around pretending that it is easy or that I'd be able to do it at the drop of a hat.

I wasnt "going around" saying kicking from 50 is easy for me. I was implying that the wow factor that professional players get from fans and media for kicking a 50 metre conversion is over rated and realistically they should be able to do it 9/10 times! They are professionals afterall and it is suppose to be their individual skill that gets them picked in the team over another.

Thats why Johnny wilkinson should get all the applause... he works harder then anybody else in union off the field on his "Skill" and without a doubt performs it a lot better then his opposition kickers too. Likewise with Beckham in soccer... (with 1 or two exceptions) Thats why these two athlets get all the recognition in todays society, there is no replacement for hard work!
