After premiering on FilePlanet a few weeks ago, the free release of Tribes has been let out into the wild. Anyone that wants to get their hands on a cool, completely free game which they can play online should download it. GameArena have a local server up, so jump online and give it a bash.

Does this need a fileplanet generated CDkey like tribesII? Because fileplanet dont seem to give them out anymore :(

Nope. No CD key required.

Now all we need is for them to release the source code.

Change the graphics/input engine, tweak the netcode a bit... all good :D

Yea, to hell with calling it "free" when you can call it "registration required".

what about Tribes 2? i already have tribes (bought it on launch day) but i would like Tribes 2, but without a CD key, there's not much point.

im with iinet so i can get it off them for free, but they don't have cd keys, only fileplanet does and they dont have them n e more :(

I think that Starseige: Tribes was released for free download at the time of Tribes 2's initial launch.

Unless this is actually Tribes 2 they've released for free, I am not really impressed.

Don't auto-update it - update it using the included patch.

I can see the gamearena server in tribes but it seems 'down' in COGS.
