Hey, I just bought the logitech Z-5300 THX Speakers. Im using my on board sound card so its not 'real' 5.1 surround and when i turn them up loud when nothing is playing on them i get the snowing sound. I want to buy a decent 5.1 sound card that will fix this and still sound good. I know nothing about sound cards and whats good and whats not. I just spent heaps on these so i dont want anything too expensive just something half decent that will sound good and fix the problem im having.

Price max: Around $150

Cheers in advance :)

So is that a good card? Does it support my speakers? so i can plug it in and use real 5.1 not emulated 5.1 like atm :P.

Is there a big difference between the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS and Creative Sound Blaster Live Digital Entertainment 5.1SE? Since im a new to this sound stuff will i even notice the difference between the two cards? I just dont wanna go spending over another $100 on a sound card which i dont really need.

Mate go to the Umart site, into their products section and check the specs out for the two cards. The ZS is much more versatile, supports up to 7.1, 192khz/108db snr etc etc...depends on what quality and versatility u want in your playback & low latency of the card.

I am using one with Zalman surround headphones and it rocks in games, is very good in music..havent hooked it up to a set of free standing 5.1 speakers but my money is on that it would be a very good choice for the $$.

Not to mention the ZS would support the latest in EAX if your interested in surround sound performance in games.
