Someone a little while (months) back posted a link to where you could buy the gamecube broadband adaptor in australia for sub $100.

It's not here. Anyone know where? or did i dream it?

Just call Nintendo Australia. The site hasn't been updated, but you can order them directly from Nintendo Australia for $60 (that includes postage).

Uhh, I think you're completely wrong mate...

If you're talking about PSO for the Gamecube - ring up GameTraders (in the white pages at robina) they told me they could order in a copy would take 10 days...

(I already have a copy, wanted to get a second as a present to a friend)

I saw it in a bargain/clearance bin on Sunday down at EB Knox as a 2 for $50 title, or, marked by itself for $25. Was tempted to get it myself actually.

And yes, ring Nintendo for the BB adaptor. It's sold direct from them, limit one per person.

Warning: When you call Nintendo to order one of these they ask you tricky questions, like 'what do you hope to do with the broadband adaptor?'.

Seems some people buy it and are disapointed because it doesn't connect them to the internet or refrigerate their beer or something, so they want to make sure that you are buying it for the right reason. To save people having to whitepages it: Nintendo Australia - 03 9730 9822.

what can you do with them if you can't actually connect to anything?

ok cool found out you can use your computer as an online server of sorts...

Yes, once mine arrives i'm going to be playing lots of phantasy star online with myself.

I missed out on that import that happened, seemed all 30 copies were snapped up pretty quick. But i managed to pick up a mint condition copy on ebay yesterday.

I want to play mario kart with friends over the internet

and she said "well it's more suited to local area network play but each of your friends will need mario kart and a broadband adaptor each and you will need to either use a cross over cable if there are just two of you, or up to x can play if you are connected through a hub or switch. If you know what you are doing you can push the traffic through your computer on to the internet."

I know what i'm doing

"Good. Just some people have expectactions for the device it cannot meet"

I'm sure it will meet all my expectations.

If you get it working on the internet natsolovR, tell us about it.

I won't be putting much effort in to mario kart on the net :)

I got the bb from nintendo, and pso from ebay. There's a few more auctions coming up and it seems to go for between $50 and $110. Remember, it's "RARE" :-)

You get a free month with PSO then its $9.95 a month I think.

You don't have to pay to play though, you can play it offline.

Sorry about the post above, that was meant for another thread. Can't nuke it from this account though.

It took me four weeks all up from buying the GC second hand to my first successful load over the bba. But most of that was waiting.

I had to buy PSO Online 1&2 pack from ebay as i missed out on the import mentioned in this thread. It cost me $80 including postage as it's 'mint condition' and 'rare'. Recently it has gone for anywhere between $55 and $110.

The BBA was purchased from Nintendo Australia at the number mentioned in this thread for $60 including postage. I ordered it Thursday I think, they said it would be here Wednesday, it was.

The software needed to fake the PSO server is publicly available (i.e. it is not using some official sdk like a lot of the xbox stuff). I used the cmdline version to save my PSO profile, and the GUI stuff to load my first real ISO.

I couldn't get the cmdline tools to load the iso, which was what took me so long last night, but once i was pointed at the pretty gui everything was good.

With my test iso, it takes about a minute to get through to the 'play online' part of PSO, then about 30 seconds to load the boot menu on to the GC, and from there less than a minute before you are seeing the start of your ISO and are playing it.

It performs pretty well considering. The ISO tested on works more than well enough. It pauses in places but only momentarilly and not where it detracts too much from what is going on.
