Got a question to do with PPPOE/Static ips.

I am renting a block of 8 ips, 6 usable for my network to all have their own net IPs.

I believe i have to turn off NAT on my router, input the static ip into my router, then the rest of the ips on the rest of my network in tcp/ip settings?
Problem here is, my BEFW11S4 router's login options, i select static ip and it no longer has a login/pass section for PPPOE. my ISP requires a login/pass.
so what do i do here? or am i even doing this right?:)

thanks.

You need to have two ip addresses assigned to your router.

One for the pppoe interface (A) ie. back to the isp and one on ethernet interface (B) ie. to your LAN.

ipA will probally have to be statically assigned to you when you logon to your isp.

ipB should be the first usable ip in your netblock.

Your ISP should be able to run you through how to do this, assuming ofcourse you are renting the 8 IP netblock from them. Otherwise it will be much more complicated.

(internet)-(isp)-(A router B)-(hub)-(desktops)

thanks trent.
where would i put the static IP on the router? or is that already determined when i login with PPPOE?

then i just put in the ips in all the computers and its good to go?

if that isnt right, ill guess ill just ring em up.

How do you connect to the router? Via a web interface perhaps?

The IP that you connect to to get to the web interface is the internal (B) interface. That is what you need to set to first of your usable ip's.

The external facing ip (A) will be assigned to your router when it logs onto your ISP.
