I don't know if you've heard of these guys, but by jingo, they are the shizat.

The Darkness is a UK "glam revival" band that are huge in the UK at the moment. I've heard some radio stations alluding to the fact that these guys are considered a bit of joke by other countries, but personally they're one of the best bands I've heard in aaaaaages.

I'd heard a lot of their stuff on TripleJ without ever knowing who it was, until one day blahnana was telling me about this band that rocked, and he pointed me to their website, and I finally put two and two together. A few hours later I went out to JB (open til 9 weeknights! great idea!) and bought it.

I tend to think of it as Queen-meets-Muse, and can't get enough of it. If you're into this sort of thing, they're definitely worth checking out - tune in on Monday night to TripleJ to hear their performance at this year's Big Day Out (wish I'd remembered to get tickets to that). The album is a cool $20 from JB.

Bolan for the Hair and Style and Dickenson for the whaling high pitched voice, but ya gotta love the COCK ROCK attitude, I personally am confused if they are serious or taking the piss but I love it.

That group remind me of bands from the 80's like Bon Jovi and Poison. Only heard one thing of theirs so I dunno if the rest is the same.

i think they came around in the wrong era ... either way it sounds crap and his voice aint good.

saw em at the BDO and was most entertained (even though they looked like they were struggling in the heat)
i hate all guitar music, but these guys bucked the trend and were entertaining!

i was reading somewhere that they have had death threats

i guess not everyone wants to see glam rock come back

I thought they were one of the best bands i saw at BDO as well (other than muse, of course). They were on at like 12 midday on the gold coast which i think was a bit unfair, but they still owned the crowd.

I missed these guys playing at the GC BDO, was watching japunga setting up for their set.

Wish I had gone over and watched them.

The Darkness - Loathe em' or Love em' ive found. Funny though cos im neither. Though did see half their set at BDO, good stage prescene, bit of a stupid gimmick really.

Sif' they'll be remembered in 12 months..
