Ok so what I think we're after is someone to make 3 banners, all pretty much similar but "tailored" for the 3 sports if possible.. if some bright qgl'er could whip that up it'd be k-rad

huh? yeah they were under their salary cap, the one afforded only to the lions, but they weren't under the salary cap enforced on all the other clubs in the even competition.who put that system in place? The afl was it? So they'd be the controlling body... who put that system in place.. The lions were given concessions to attract talent but most importantly to retain it in an effort to offset the "Senior" player allowance currently used (heh and abused) by the established victorian clubs... Values like club loyalty and passion are hard to develop when players have to move away from family etc to play.. so they gave them money and as a result the loyalty and passion followed (hence many players taking pay cuts just to be a part of the team) As for it only being for the lions, i believe sydney, both the adelaide franchises aswell as the eagles and the dockers have similar agreements.. and for the most part of the season those teams were the bulk of the top 8... But since the lions won i suppose THEY MUST BE THE BIGGEST CHEATS EVER IN THE WORLD... Its all sounding.... http://worldfootbag.com/magazine/vol-12-no-2/img/record.jpg last edited by Boxhead at 18:30:52 13/Feb/04 |

I think its time the AFL thought about lowering the 600k (its 600k isnt it?). Lions have won it 3 times, players love been in a winning team which is inncentive enough to stay. Also incase the afl hadn't noticed QLD has there own AFL competetion and plenty of juniors. (If they have already lowered it to a degree than i take the above back - i dont keep up with afl that much)
On another topic incase people were interested - Penrith got raped by Bradford in the world club challange 22-4. |

i believe sydney, both the adelaide franchises aswell as the eagles and the dockers have similar agreements.. and for the most part of the season those teams were the bulk of the top 8...Sydney get a cost of living allowance, none of the other clubs get squat. I agree with the original plan for Brisbane, because when it was put in place they were s***. I think the idea is now passed its used by date and isn't really neccessary. They have won three flags in a row, I don't really think they need any further assistance; do you?? |
