I just bought a couple of SATA drives, the first SATA devices ive ever touched and i know that SATA has eliminated the need for master and slave but i noticed that there are still 4 jumper pins on the back of the drive, i was just curious what they are used for if anyone knows?
there is no mention of what the pins are there for on the info sticker ontop of the drive. i know im probably not going to need to use them though, i was just curious. |

Not sure, but I know my two SATA drives didn't have anything like that I had to mess with, what drive brand and model did you get?

fade>>> nah, the oldschool power connector your talking about is the Molex power connector.. this drive doesn't have it, the four pins im talking about are jumper pins on the back of the drive, im having a quick squiz around the seagate site but haven't found anything on it yet. there is a technical data sheet for the drive on the site but you need acrobat to read the damn file and i don't have it installed... sigh :) might have to install it.
