ok ok, i was watching a vid in the new winamp, got like 30 secs into it and my computer logged off, and shut itself down, in the proper windows like style. but i didnt ask it too...
so the computer is off, so i turn it back on. asks me if i want safemode safemode w networking etc so i decided to go with last known working configuration... so i get the windows loading bars... and then i get a blue screen that goes to quickly for me to read and then it reboots. ive tried all the options, safemode, safemode with networking, command prompt, and normal, and i get the same flash of blue screen then reboot. HELP ME! |

Just pop the ram out and give the gold pins a clean over with a cloth or something and stick them back in making sure they go in properly and try again
They will only fit one way both sdr and ddr types. I don't know how people can put them in the wrong way, for them to clip in you would have to push them with a LOT of force and snap the little divider bit in the ramslot on the mobo... If stuff is taking a lot of force to go in dont push it harder ffs something isnt right :) |

Have you tried a windows repair? I had that happen to me ages ago and I did that and it fixed it. So obviously it wasn't anything hardware for me then.

You can put ram in backwards. Trust me, I saw burnt out ram, due to incorrect installation, come in all the time at my old work place.

Perhaps they were using cheap ass components (how unusual for Game Dude) that had cheap ass dimm socets which only have the middle guide, I'm yet to see one but that is the only possibility notice how the 2 notches GUARANTEE the dimm will always go in the right way!

Faulty ram so the techy tells me. They're testing it today to see if it's the board damging the ram. it was a PQI PC-133 512mb stick... she had a good life :) |

hey thats unfair, Its glandular.
Seriously... there is only ONE way ram can go in, if you use your Grade 1 skills and follow the dots, you will see that the slot matches the divots in the ram, reverse the ram and the slots.. wait for it.. DONT MATCH UP!$!@%@^ haha oh god, that must hurt the old grey matter up there. There is learning and then there is stupidity. |

your right dude, but its not like the slots were layed flat on my desk with nice bright lighting, the slots were vertical inside my machine, next to the vid card and the hdd and the fans and s***, and with my hands trying to shove the s*** in i couldnt see anything.
oh and im sorry to hear about your mum :\ life must be tough for a fatty. |

Receptionist: How do you write women so well?Ring a bell. the only way to put a dimm in backwards is if the quality of the dimm slot was so piss poor that the guides where ever non-existant or so piss poor to allow a newb to put dimm in backwards. And as you said You can put ram in backwards. Trust me, I saw burnt out ram, due to incorrect installation, come in all the time at my old work place.piss poor components supplied by? |
