Seven or so years ago I bought my first gaming PC. And since that day my PSX never saw the light of day again - nor have I even so much as looked at a console Throughout all this X-Box/PS2/GameCube hype.

I went to Hardly Normal a week ago to check out the games there, and noticed they had a floor demo of NFS:Underground on PS2. I could not believe just how poor the graphics quality was. Is this just a below average PS2 title? Or is it on par for most Console games?

I would like to hear from the Console Junkies out there, as to why you dont just use those things to jam your bedroom door open, and buy a PC.

yeah most of us have pretty good pc's, but we like consoles as well. they're cheap as, and i use my xbox mainly for multiplayer fun with my friends with midtown madness 3, brute force, halo (btw no co-op in pc wtf??) Of course i play pc more for sp and online gaming.

Yeah and ps2 nfsu graphics are pretty s***. Xbox one's are better, but pc are the best.....ns look at the price differences =P

I suppose that is a fair alternative, considering how much more expensive a decent gaming PC costs.

What does the average console game cost?

I used to like consoles and i still do, but you can't post in forum's on the internet from consoles without breaking some stupid agreement.

Anyone Agree?

average console game costs 99.95 if new or 109.95 if its new and comes with an extra dvd disc (e.g. ffx and mgs2 had this). if it goes patinum (ps2) it is then 49.95. thats how much you'll pay in eb or david jones or something. in kmart, new ps2 games are at about $96 and they sell platinum's a few bucks cheaper too.

so, in general, they're usually around the 100 dollar mark. get them second hand at eb cheaper.

Obviously PC's own the crap outa consoles (performance wise). But you cant raelly compare them due to massive price differences. Comparing a pc to a console is like comparing a ferrari to a honda civic. I myslef am a pc gamer, but for 300 buks an xbox/ps2 is still pretty dam cheap.

There's not much to say, really. Console v. PC is kinda old now. I think it just comes down to what you can afford, what you have or what you like.
Some people like porsches, some people like fords. Same diff, really.
Oh, god. Why does everything come down to cars with me? :)

True, but sometimes they are a good alternative as they come without the problems and complications computers can bring when playing the latest games.

What a coincidence, i was playing NFS:undergroung on a friends Xbox and i was impressed at how well the graphics were, the game-play was also good. it was then that i decided i need a console, an Xbox. i never bought a "Next-Generation" console, after the incident when i tried to mod my PSX, anyway.
Anyone know where i can get one cheap?

I like to think that consoles are for ppl who never took the time to learn to type, or dont' know where the power switch is!!

Or wats this start button thing, does that mean lift off!! Understanding a pc takes allot more, and consoles games are developed for a more simple person!! ANd pc games have more switches and toggles than any console game does!!! Try playing Civ 2 on a psx, and then u try tell me that u had fun using that s***ty analogue stick to act as a mouse!!

BOth ups and downs, but if u were dumb enuff to buy a Gamecube like my lil bro. then i feel sorry for ya man, i relaly do!!

PC's have so many uses, internet, work, movies, ect. and consoles have 1, games.

SO basicaly, u pay more, for somthing that DOES more.

U pay less for somehting that surves 1 perpose.

Perosnaly i think PC's are heaps better, but then again, only cause can afford decent hardware and broadband

I'm often surprised at the blockyness of the "latest" console games compared to the PC.

Consoles do have one advantage over the PC - the games are so damn fun! I mean that multiplayer mario stuff kicks ass!

Which target stores have gamecubes for $99AU? :) I want one.

I only like consoles because they are portable and all that i need to do is put in the game and it will play.

If you want a good looking racing game try Project Gotham Racing 2 on Xbox. Not only does it have the best graphics of any racing game i have played but the best gameplay too. It's hard to compare PC and consoles since a lot of the games are exclusive to their respective platforms. I know i would be at a loss if i couldn't play great console game like Panzer Dragoon Orta, Metroid Prime, Soul Calibur 2 ect. and would also be at a loss if i couldn't play great PC games like Freelancer, RTCW: ET, Warcraft 3 ect. It's really good to have both if you enjoy a wide variety of gaming styles like i do.

the hardware may be substantially lower than a decent gaming pc but if you look at the actual graphics on an xbox you'll notice that they're actually good. instead of reading hardware stats look at results u idiot.

Indigod if you were relpying to my post. I was refering to racing games not graphics in general. Also i play any game that is on PC on my PC but for those that are exclusive to console i play them on console.

yer u cant compare console specs to pc specs because it doesnt work like that.

so many pc fanboys wont even look at consoles for the fun they are.
