i wouldnt be surprised. frankly, its losing some of its charm. dod i getting more popular now. (ironically, its a HL based game, therefore the cheats will come in only a matter of time).

cmon guys the game has been around for what just alittle less then HL (and thats about 2.5 yrsold) so its done bloody well

The actual numbers have remained steady at around 50,000 at one time for around a year, so if people are leaving, they're being very quickly replaced by newbies (maybe those buying the retail?)

cs has been out just over two.

cs cheats work with other mods. they are not cs specific.

infact most cs cheats were developed from the quake code anyway.

oooh quake 3 does have cheats (duh...)
but the ppl that play quake 3 genrally have moral boundries and therefore dont cheat i ahve NEVER been in a quake 3 server when some1s chetaed i have MANY times been in a cs server with cheats...
quake 3 doenst have very many cheats becuase the players feel its just not right.... the quake 3 plaers do hav some cheats avalible to them but they dont take it because because ...????

the half life engine and its netcode is s***, in q3 it is obvious if someone is cheating but in cs you can kill people after they have strafed past a wall because valve are a bunch of retards end of story

ummm.. the cs netcode is good...
better than any other game IMO, it's the only online game I can play and actually kill someone!

Its bad when youve been behind a wall for half a second to try and avoid being killed and you just die because of someone with a higher ping.

Or, and this is true, walk through an enemy granade... goto the bomb point, put the bomb down and die from a grenade with the bomb back where you got hit by the gren =[

Mind you, i think HL's netcode is what made CS so popular during the early stages of its development.

considering i'm always the person with the highest ping, this is all to my advantage.

the netcode checks to see if you where hit when person x fired at you. if you think you got behind a wall and suddly die to person x, then you where hit before you got behind the wall, it was just updating your client that you where hit. It works in your favour too, so its not because he has as higher ping

yeah if the other person was an LPB you would be dead anyway, so you deserve it.

DOD is coming into it's own for sure, but to be honest, I reckon even that won't last particularly long. If valve don't instigate some new plan to keep a fan base for TF2/CS2 then Hl will start keeling over soon. Ofcourse valve will instigate something o keep players, no doubt of that.

s***, I completely forogt the new multicast/voicechate being implemented in the next HL patch. See perfect example of what I mean. If they updated HL with a new graphics engine they would hit the nail right on teh head.

If they gave away TF2/CS2 for free, that wouldn't surprise me either.

yeah can you imagine that? if at qgl hl player went to one half and wuake 3 pays the other and players that play both games and diff. games in teh middle... cuz lets face it the two most widly played games are halflife and q3a

CS is definately on the decline, though I wish it had done so earlier. And no, Quake3 is far less cheater-friendly than the HL engine simply because the HL engine is old, crappy and well old! Not to mention the fact that Valve is about as active at fixing bugs as Microsoft is. Two words: PURE SERVER.

Someone should tell Valve to hurry up and die, perhaps then we could have a bit more variety in the online gaming world.

The only way to make cs stop its bs is to create something better and just as enjoyable without the ease to create bugs and cheats that is cs. And well noone has so its something we have to put up with till osmething is relased. Though we ALWAYS seem to be talking about it ALL the time

I just played DoD tonite for the first time and although i thoroughly enjoyed the change CS has no competition from that, its just not the same standard of gaming.

outklast, I'm not sure what point you're making by saying that - if people play dod for around the same time people have been playing cs, chances are you'll see at least about the same standard of gaming. it's what always happens as people get better and better at something over time.

also, saying cs has no competition from it just isn't true - there's a number of very good cs players who are not only thoroughly enjoying dod, but are actually keen to give cs a rest in favour of dod

incidentally, they're very different games anyway - the main similarity between them is their heavy teamwork orientation. making comparisons between them on anything other than this similarity is probably really dumb

But I could compare DOD to TFC and every other 'capture the flag' style game.

Maybe It's just me, but Counter-Strike is the only game I love.
I never played computer games before I found out about counter-strike, because between me and you, computer games are pretty lame.
So I play Counter-Strike.
In the last month I've experimented with DOD, TFC, and the Opera, and they just don't do anything for me.

cant cheat in q3 cos of pure servers which make sure u have the same files as the server in ur baseq3/mod directory ...

errr, Hiro, you can cheat in pure serv0rs.

In fact not so long ago you could do some dodgy stuff with pure servers. Had something to do with f***ing with your client stuffs when quake-3:arena was running :/ Dont know the details thought it was pretty funny tho.

Goa'ald basically represents your avg CS player. Played CS and nothing else. Almost anybody who has been playing games since before CS will know there are better games out there.

Most ppl like this won't play anything different simply because it is different.

I am a CS player. Not a gamer. I have played other games, but don't like em!

Not because I'm arrogant. I mean, when I first was told to play CS I was like "this is gonna be gay... "
Then I played it, and was like OMFG!!! This is so real! And there are terrorists and everything!
So that's why I play it.
I've always been a huge fan of movies involving special forces and terrorists, so this was like getting to be in the movie.

See what I'm saying?
I like CS cos of it's content... and not because it's a game (like the people who play cs for a few months then quit because Quake3 is better)

I never liked War movies or Sci-fi, so quake and DOD aren't something i'm interesting in!
