Ain't it cool news have done a script review for AvP and seem to hate its guts. AICN isn't the most trustworthy/unbias movie gossip site but the story outline that's put to it seems fairly basic and crappy.

Then again, it's aliens vs. predator so as long as it has some action and cheezy one-liners I'll love it.

And, the first movie was awesome in its own right. It was suspenseful horror rather than all out action. Aliens was rad, but niether was better. And Alien 4 > Alien 3.

The storyline for Alien 3 was infinitely worse.

I didn't mind three, although it isn't as good as 1 or 2.

Alien 4 could have been a lot better. They should have kept Ripley dead and re-created a fair bit of suspense by having another crew (or maybe a squad of marines) coming across some eggs.

The main thing that pissed me off about 4 was that it was supposed to be about 200 years later or so and the level of technology was the same. I'm sure the Company could have come up with some funky s*** by that time (powered suits for the marines perhaps ?). Plus the whole Alien-Ripley albino hybrid sub-plot was extremely lacking.

When Ripley powers up Bishop's remains in Alien 3 she asks him to replay the logs of the ship's computer to see if there was an Alien on the ship and if it came with them on the EVA after the fire started. The answer was yes.

All the writers of Alien 3 needed to do to continue the story was base it on what you don't know about the Queen. All you need to keep it going is to assume that the Queen laid an egg or three (we only see one) on the ship while she was on board. Sure, we don't see her do this at the end of Aliens, but there is nothing to say she didn't crawl out of the landing gear on the dropship, lay the egg/s then hide in there again. if i remember correctly, the alien inside ripley was a new queen. That might explain why it took longer to grow than the dogs.

Do you even WATCH these movies? At the end of Aliens, they've just got out of the dropship, and they're still standing in the landing bay, when the Queen spears Bishop and comes down out of the dropship. There was absolutely no time at all, when the Queen would have time to carry some eggs further into the ship, hide them in a corner, come back to the landing bay and hide back in the dropship.

They showed them inside the dropship on board the Sulaco and Bishop said they needed a stretcher for Hicks. They could have been in there for half an hour, we don't know. Obviously they didn't intend for the Queen to lay eggs at the end of Aliens, but that doesn't make the situation any less plausible for the sake of continuity.

Remember that in the Aliens Universe the company wants to get their hands on a specimen the whole time, using humans as bait, so it's possible that the high-ups are aware of the creature without the general populace being in the know. The company sends Ripley's crew to investigate the distress beacon intentionally in the first movie and there is the ordeal with Ash, Burke makes them aware of the creature in the second and tries to bring back specimens, and the company's involvement in the third movie is a big part of the plot.

Sure, the queen lost her egg sac, but it seems plausible to me that she has the ability to lay one last egg, a queen, should the need arise. Which she did. I liked the way Alien3 managed to retain tension with one single alien, and zero weapons. It takes talent to do that in the movie. Plus, the bit where the alien reaches down, grabs that dude and takes him into the airvent.... f***!!!

And this Anderson dude is perfect for AvP. He has already completely ripped off the Aliens characters and basic storyline in Resident Evil. And anyone who says Mortal Kombat was even a movie worth watching doesn't deserve to comment on anything as good as the Alien and Predator movies. I haven't seen Event Horizon, but have heard comments ranging from good to pitiful.

I think that AvP will be an exceptionally hard movie to f*** up, the worst it could be is a mindless action-fest, and they aren't that bad. I'd prefer something with at least a bit of cleverness behind it, though.
