i just set up my new tv-tuner (winfast tv2000 xp) and have all the channels working. but the only way i can get sound is to unplug my speakers from my soundcard and plug the cord into the tv-tuner card.
when i do that i get sound on the channels but no sound for anything else. is there a way i can set it up so that i dont have to keep swapping sound cables? kthx |

There is a small cable that comes with it that plugs into the tv card sound-out to the sound card's line-in

turn on the "line in" in sound properties and run a link from the out on the tv tuner to the in on the sound card...

My picture is so bad, it is constantly snowing(actualy more like a blizzard). But i think thats because i lack a good arial possition from my computer.

I went and bought a new indoor arial the other day thinking I would get a better signal. It cost twice as much as my first one and boasted signal amplifier capabilities. I'm still using my first elcheapo arial that I bought from a hardware store because my new one sucks balls :\

If you pick it up and move it around you'll notice the picture will get better or worse depending on where you move it. I'm not sure how to fix this but you might want to invest in some of the more expensive cable you can get at video pro or Hardly Normals. I'm assuming it's expensive for a reason, might have sheilding or some s***. |

If it's coax cable it will already have some shielding. More expensive cable will probably have more layers of shielding either solid, a mesh or a mixture of both. Also better quality terminations.

thx for assistance, i tried rabbit ears and moved them around before, but it wasn't too clear at all. once i get my box out for next lan, i will move it closer to see if that makes a diff, and not use big cables.
and do those tv amplifiers work well? |

Well I bought an Arial with an in built amp and I was better off without it so I would have to say no. I think you'd need good cables anyway, otherwise you'll pickup interfference through the cable

I moved my tv tuner card (Spirit PC TV Tuner) from my second pc to this one yesterday and when I finally got the drivers installed I only had sound from the right speaker.
Went to give the little cable from tuner card -> sound card a bit og a jiggle to see if it was the connection and when I pulled it out the end bit of the plug on the cable had come off and is now stuck in the line-in plug on my soundcard! :( NFI how to get it out now. :( As a result I'm having to plug the speakers straight into the tuner card, so I don't get any system sounds and can't capture audio off it. :( Going to pick up some better quality cables today and see how it goes on mic-in... Picture quality is rather good considering the cheapo rabbit-ears antenna I'm using - I can even get SBS! :) Frame captures off each channel can be seen here: http://members.optusnet.com.au/~aclark77/tunercard/ PS dual monitors are awseome to have when watching the tv and surfing the web. :) though the tv screen - the black box in the jpg - won't move to the second monitor. :( |

Those pictures weren't through an amplifier or anithing... just a cheap set of rabbit ears from Dickie's, but have them as far from my pc as they can reach. Plus we're on a bit of a hill, have line-of-sight to Mt Cootha, and the room my pc is in is on that side of the house too.
I picked up a couple of new cables (one for tuner card -> sound card, and a second for sound card -> speakers) and am now using mic-in for the tv's audio. Works much better now, but I'm not sure if mic input is stereo (SB Live)... meh.. so long as I can hear it I'm happy. :) |

yip i can read ;) i know they were through cheapo rabbit ears, but im not getting the best reception through the aerial socket as it is, i tried rabbit ears a few times tho, can't even get an image lol, so i figured maybe amplifiers may be the go.
i'm not too far out in the sticks! |
