PC Games has some impressions from an updated version of this game. Sounds like its getting more uber with each build. Can't wait for this one.

Since S.T.A.L.K.E.R. monitors your character's hunger as well as health and endurance, you may be forced to hunt and kill rats, or small birds, and devour them to survive. However, if these animals happened to be irradiated, your character may contract radiation poisoning, which can be cured only with special medicinal tablets, or a good swig of everyone's favorite detoxifier, vodka.

i dont know if all these tamagotchiisms are really a good thing.. micromanagement in a fps.. just painful and annoying :( ah well, should add more female appeal to gaming ? and then there's the argument that it amounts to a more complete 'experience'. Bugger that, i want to blow stuff up :( ah well, see how it goes.
