What if our universe was indeed a building block. What if our universe was a building block of a multi-universal organism? What if our universe contained enough energy to drive endothermic reactions to sustain an organism so massive, our existence was essential for its survival. What if our universe was nothing but an energy factory, with its little workers rushing blindly towards their doom, carrying out their daily routines oblivious to their ill-fated lives. What if Earth had the same significance as a cell in our human bodies? What if Earth was nearing its cellular life? What IF…..Indeed Hey hey? |

Pot can do that to people I watched a 9 hour documentory on Stephen Hawkings once, i was blown away. Told everyone about it 4 weeks, how it all worked and that. Then i realised they don't care. Nice thoughts though good work. Think on dude |

Been thinkin' about that the last day or so. You might be right, you might be wrong "but thinking about it isn't". They can't help not being able to comprehend what is not put in their hands. If they are not spoon fed it is not food for thought. It was people like you who were burnt as witches than proven to be correct by science years later. Has anyone noticed the world isn't as flat as it used to be? |

There is one answer to every question.
And that answer is there are an infinte amount of answers for one each question. |

I was thinking you were wrong about the infinite answers thing, taking the scenario that 1 + 1 = 2
Whereupon you could say that 1 + 1 = 3-1 but in the end it all equals 2 anyway. So while there may be an infinite ammount of answers, there would probably be a finite final solution. |

1+1 =2, because of mathematics but is mathematics necessarily the answer to 1+1...in it's current context, yes it is, but fundamentally not necessarily. Think of ancient civilizations in their day, 1+1 =2 might well mean they angered the gods or perhaps pleased them..just because mathematics is our current 'faith' is it true? right or wrong? can you see in the long future been called heathens for our 'mathematics' they proved it was faulse or couldn't prove it was real so they found a more productive means for their 'faith'. History has the habbit of not been history at all but just been tomorrow fundamentally i believe everything that happens in history will happen in the future so will our current 'faith' not be discarded for a new one? So i believe we're never right or wrong, there for, there's no such thing as an answer written in stone and like an analog signal it has an infinite amount of values never ending. |

i must say you guys have some very interesting thoughts and theories. what website did u copy that off illhandle eh? ehehe.
anyways, i have some questions that need answering: *why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways? *why do fat chance and slim chance mean the same thing? *Why are there flotation devices under plane seats instead of parachutes? *Why are cigarettes sold in gas stations when smoking is prohibited there? *If you can't drink and drive, why do you need a driver's license to buy liquor, and why do bars have parking lots? *How does the guy who drives the snowplow get to work in the mornings? *If nothing ever sticks to TEFLON, how do they make TEFLON stick to the pan? *If you tied buttered toast to the back of a cat and dropped it from a height, what would happen? *If you're in a vehicle going the speed of light, what happens when you turn on the headlights? *Why do they put Braille dots on the keypad of the drive-up ATM? Ponder these my young (i assume) einsteins, platos, socrates' and aristotles. i have more questoins i need answering, if u want to hear them reply to this post |

We drive on parkways, because that's what they are there for, and we park on driveways because that's what they were designed for. They mean the same thing because they are the same expression, simply with reversible adjectives. The devices are under plane seats because there is a greater chance they will be used in a water 'crash' or landing as opposed to parachutes which are ment to be lifesavers in the first place. You need a driver's licence to verify age...Bars have parking lots so people can drive to them.... The guy walks to his plow.....Teflon stick because it is a slippery substance that adheres to their surfaces once manufacturers sandblast them to roughen them, apply a primer, and embed the Teflon into the primer.....Cats can only land on four legs at a height generally greater than 2.5 metres, so a height needs to be specified....When you turn on the headlights the light will not be projected infront of you, merely scattered around the vehicle or 'refracted' in a different angle...AND the last one i really can't be bothered... |

bravo, bravo, very impressive. i applaud you. you really did shut me up :D
oh, and the cat thing, the height must be greater than 7 stories. any point lower than that, the cat's brain is too slow to register what is happening and will not turn around to land on it's feet and will either be very sore or quite deceased the next day, depending on the height it was dropped from. |

About the car traveling at the speed of light and then turning on its headlights.
First of all, nothing can travel at the speed of light except light itself, Because if you travel at the speed of light you have infinite mass. It is possibile to travel near the speed of light though, say 99.999%. As you apporch this speed though your length contracts in size and time runs slower. Now If a car was going to turn on its headlights while the car was going at the speed of light then the lights would not be visable relative to the person in the car. |

How do we know that is true? No experiemt has been done to prove such a thing, it is just a theory...based on mathematics...this equation i think.. E=mc^2 |

E=mc^2 has nothing to do with light speed etc, it's simply a method to calculate energy lost in relation to mass lost when you multiplying the mass lost by the speed of light (3 x 10^8).....
And yes i'm glad people are also adding their own thoughtful ideas on the forum...... |

The toast and cat thing- if you drop it from a great height, the cat'll land on it's feet. It's heavier than a bit of toast.

ah but u see mr cookie monster, i mean vengeance :D, the toast is strapped to the cat as it says in the question so their weights are joined to be one item. it makes no difference if the cat is heavier or not because the fact remains that the toast becomes part of the cat's weight in total.

Has anyone noticed the world isn't as flat as it used to be? AFAIK, the ancient Greeks knew the world was spherical. Even the Bible refers to the earth as a sphere in the Hebrew Old Testament. It probably just became less popular during the middle ages when everyone got dumb. :-) Not everything is infinite. I love the idea that our current mathematical theories are "the new ghosts". ie We believe in the existance of infinity, random numbers, impossible numbers, negative numbers, infantessimals, etc, because they can be proved on paper. Then they're just accepted, but it's a little harder to see where they fit into real life. Mystery is a great embarrassment to the modern mind. I haven't decided where I stand on this issue! I do think the universe is probably a Hypercube though. *Why do they put Braille dots on the keypad of the drive-up ATM? I'll give this one a shot. Standardised industrial/commercial components? They use the same buttons in elevators. |

speaking of things not being proven, you do all realise that pretty much nothing to do with atoms is proven because man is yet to invent anything that can magnify enough to see a single atom.

"if you strap buttered toast to the back of a cat and drop it from a height will it land on its feet?" u see the word BUTTERED somewhere in there? i know i do! 2. DrFrag, what does AFAIK mean? and good theory on the braille dots :) |

With some simple maths it can be proven that 1+1 infanct can equal 1
take a²-a² = a²-a² factorize on left by comment factor and on right by difference of squares a(a-a) = (a-a)(a+a) since (a-a) is on both sides it can be canceled therefore a = (a+a) let a =1 1 = 1 + 1 let a = anythign for that matter :p just my 2.00001 cents worth |

But that really doesn't have any significance, nor prove anything. As you can make any number = itself
E.g. simply sub in 100 or 8 or whatever........ ????? I guess that's your 1.9999cents :) |

You need to sub in a number at the start!!!

Tying a piece of toast to a cat and dropping the cat has nothing to do with the toast which has no influence on gravity..... It's just the damn cat which can turn its body in mid-air....... Nothing else.... |

Dictionary meanings are what humanity has created you utter moron.... THAT DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE THE TRUTH! We as a race can speculate all we want, but many of those speculations cannot be proven as yet or ever..... What if everything in existence is not as we think it is? What if alll matter and energy, including the earth, the galaxies, and the contents of intergalactic space, regarded as a whole, a universe..... What if there is more outside this Singular Universe....You can't prove that 'MORON' |

If our thoughts were restricted by the dictionary we would hardly think at all. Lanuage evolves very fast and covers a great deal but still it is very hard to use language to express ones thoughts and even still the meaning often comes out diluted.

Cookie Vengeance, when i replied to your previous post, i was merely saying that the statement you made about the cat being heavier than a piece of toast was irrelevant, not that you were wrong about the cat. and sheepy, the two cats thing... gold. :D

After reading through this post i have only one comment to make and that is about the cat strapped to the buttered toast.
The question is designed to have no answer, there is two theroys cats always fall on there legs and toast always lands buttered side down. Hence if both theroys were to be correct neither the cat or toast could land on the ground. |

however the cat theory seems to be more correct to me and depending on the height that they jumped i think that the cat would land first.

the toast theory only work if you knok your toast of a table or something of a similar hight because it only has time to make a 180 flip if you droped it from a hight of 2 times a table something like a frige it will land the right way up.
but a cat lands on it feet because of its points of gravety on the lower side of its body there for when it flips to the bottom side it stays there because it is hevier |

thankyou sitting duck for tellling the people :) . i assume many people did not get it because they were always refering to the cat and never had anything to say about the buttered toast. and people, my post with all those questions, they were just jokes, nothing more. i was very suprised that anyone took them further :D |

The answer is, the cat would land on the ground and the toast would have no bearing on wether the cat would or would with its feet on the ground (depending on the height).

Lol you moron! hehe
I said that as an 'amusing' comeback to when you ridiculed my own thoughtful ideas as being 'copied' from a website (which i know was pure jealousy now). You don't understand the meaning of the word 'contradict'......The 'truth' is, you probably did pulll that rubbish from some website.....and you made that rubbish out to be your own words, which you wanted the ANSWERS to....Which i helped with!! You requested us to ponder the questions as you wanted to know the answers!! LOL stop contradicting yourself again! |

Once again, dictionary meanings are useless in this forum, hence 'useless thoughts' as the topic YOU TOTAL UNEDUCATED MORON. Stop trying to prove people wrong and use your own imagination to develop your own IDEAS.....How do you know things even exist?? What if they don't even exist as an entity? You can't prove that, as you can't prove why humanity exists in the first place.....Existentualism is a key issue in this topic, unfortunately, you are clearly uneducated (hence you consult the dictionary for everything). In other words, how about you read a book entitled 'Why i can't think for myself, because i was brought up to believe in what society placed before me'........Get a job and get a life |

ILL_HANDLE#3, yes i know that was a comeback to my statement of you copying your thing from a website but in itself it states that you thought those questions were jokes.
and also, since you said "i have tonnes of that crap lying around in documents", it is very likely that you did not write that and that it was copied from a website down the line. i'd also like to say that i agree with arnie and also that you have broken 2 forum rules. sure, other people in this post have broken a rule but how could they not criticise you when your head is obviously bigger than an elephants butt-cheeks. |

1. if you actually knew what pompous meant, you would KNOW what i'm talking about. i suggest you look it up in the DICTIONARY!
2. In reply to this post: Once again, dictionary meanings are useless in this forum, hence 'useless thoughts' as the topic YOU TOTAL UNEDUCATED MORON. Why do you feel you must verbally attack people because they think differently than you? this may be a shock to you but you are not always right. |

You shouldn't go lording over people because you feel more 'educated' than others because essentially the more educated you are the more close minded you are. Our education becomes too specific, dictating where our thoughts lead us. To be totally uneducated is like been a child where your imagination is almost limitless. Once you truly admit to yourself that you don't know ANYTHING then you can open your mind to knowledge. Unfortunalely I haven't been able to convince myself I don't know anything yet...

I am a hypocrite, and i post useless and often retarded thoughts on forums.
Its not my fault that people like to post back saying, `omg that was so deep` when i was talking about some crap like dirt or something. Blame everyone else for wanting to look as though they are smart by agreeing with something someone else says in an attempt to look smart, by saying something thats easily interpreted in more than one way, on a subject that is inconclusive. Its never the leaders fault, its always the damn followers... being brain washed into doing the leaders bidding. |

What cracks me up about Ill Handler is that we're all forum geeks yet maybe a month or two back when he was trying to bring me down to his level all of his posts were at times when the average person would be going out with his friends (1 post at 11:40pm on a Friday night and another at 10pm on a Saturday night) and getting s***faced/laid etc. I've come to the conclusion that he has no friends and his posts are his only source of attention.

I needed a name, so i chose that one... i am a 17 year old un-educated almost out of school boy. I dont think i am smarter than anyone, and think everyones entitled to their opinion. I dont like people that think that they are smarter than everyone, and think that they are always right. |

Well I dont know if anyone has already posted this or not and I dont care if I'm 100 time dumber than Steven Hawking. But what 1+1 does not infact =2. The only reason people think 1+1=2 is because we came up with this metogd of counting. Therorectically 1+1=2 but just because someone invented maths. Indeed what if 1 doesnt equal 1 just because is says one it could actually eqaul 3 or something theorectilcally stupid or polictilcoly incorrect. For all we know the earth could be a single cell in a giants body or a alients body and the solar system is just a vein so big to us we think we think we are superior. |

In any math equation, when you are cancelling out terms you have to make sure that they are not either 0 or INFINITY (eg.something/0 or tangent 90 degrees). |
