i am buying a motherboard some time next week and i have decided between 2 board but i dont know which one is better off?

NF7-S RAID v2, nVIDIA nForce2 v1.2, Dual DDR400, Serial ATA 150 Raid 0/1/0 plus 1, ATA 133, AGP 8X, USB 2.0, On board 10/100Mb Lan, SoundStorm Technology - Real-time Dolby Digital 5.1 audio encoding, supports ACPI and Wake on LAN

or

Socket-A ASUS A7N8X DELUXE, N-Force 2 Chipset, AGP Pro 8x, Dolby Digital 6 Channel Audio provided by ALC650 Realtek Audio Chip, Onboard 1394 Firewire 2 Ports MCP-T Integrated IEEE 1394a + Realtek® PHY 8801B, 6 x USB 2.0, Dual Channel DDR400, Serial ATA RAID Provided by Silicon Image Sil3112A Controller, Dual Onboard LAN MCP integrated 3Com® MAC + Broadcom® AC101L PHY, ASUS COP cpu overheat protection, Q-Fan

the price difference between these two boards do not bother me also so i dont have to go for the cheaper one.

sifn't go this one:

Socket-A GigaByte GA-7N400PRO2 Nforce2 ULTRA400 Chipset

It has all the features of the abit, cept it has raid on the IDE channels as well.

The difference between the asus and abit - the asus has DUAL 10/100 LAN.

Comes down to what features you want - want dual LAN go the asus, don't need it go the gigabyte or abit.

I've got the ASUS A7V8X-X, I got it few days ago and it was pure j0r! 333MHz FSB Athlon XP CPU Support, DDR400 (PC3200) Support, AGP 8X Technology, S/PDIF out port on back I/O (on audio model only).

Edit:
the asus is a nice board, but they have a s***ty bios :>
Nothing that can be fixed with the ASUS autobios, which you connect up the internet & downloads the biso flash it than reboots your machine!

Ive got the ABIT NF7S 2.0.

Rocks. No complaints. Moved to this from ASUS, no looking back.

Though ill admit the ASUS documentation and board layout is nicer.

I'll have to agree there, they put the firewire and 1394 ports right right to the agp slot ;\

nf7-s is meant to be a good overclocker, i was going to buy one and ended up and an A7N8X-Deluxe.

Excellent board, I swore I'd never buy asus, but I did, and I love it.

Its no slouch in overclocking either. I can get my xp2500 to 2.3ghz.

Its one thing that I hate its people that ask what sort of motherboard should I buy. My friend said this, that magazine said that, blah blah f***in blah.

Buy one that suits your needs. Simple! Its not hard to pick a processor and a chipset to suit.

Are they finding things wrong with the board when you return it?

Sounds dodgy ... like your doing something funky to it

Motherboard standouts (mounts) in wrong spot and shorting it or some s***

Tried it out of ya case?
