Where is the best place in Brisbane to take a comic book to see how much it is worth, and if it is truely authentic?

How do I find the phone number/name? I tried yellowpages.com.au but I don't know what to look up and "Comic Books" aren't a topic :)

Just wondering if anyone reads alot of comic books and knows the process or even collects them. I have a comic book and I want to know if it is the real thing or not.

The best place for this would probably be Collectaco, not sure if they're still around but you could try looking them up in the phonebook.

if your really serious youd go around to all the comix shops, that way you can get a decent inbetween apx of what your comixs are worth

I've got about 200 MAD Magazines if anyone wants to buy them off me. Stopped collecting them about 2 years ago. Got all of them from Xmas 1988 til about the end of 2001. Plus some early issues from back in the 1960's or even earlier. Can't remember.

Did you fold all the back cover pages ?

Nope.

Never wanted to ruin the page. I always thought I'd collect them forever and they might be worth something so I never folded them.

Sunbird, unless your comics are in mint condition, they will be almost worthless
(ie, slight wrinkles or marks along the spine = devaluation)

Get em checked out tho anyway, I'm just letting you know that what you think may be worth something, isn't always worth s***.

I've got an uber collection of Marvel's "The Mighty Thor" & quite a few of the spinoff "Thunderstrike" series (Mint condition, sealed, no. 1 Special Edition).

The real value in that kind of thing comes from the collector who will pay through the nose to fill the gap in his series...

The comic book is a brand new number one special edition, limited to 5000 comics.

It is a present and would like to get it valuated before I give them a dud

Take it into Comics ETC and ask for chris (red headed guy) or you could just go in and ask to look at a valuation guide(Overstreet), chances are that is all the person you would be asking would do.
What comic is it?? I used to work at Comics ETC, i "might" know a rough value....

Tony or Brian at Daily Planet would probably be able to value it too. For that matter what is the comic, we may even be able to tell you right now (roughly).

LOL! Just realised I typed pretty much the same thing as Merlyn. :)

Well going from the prices shown here, http://www.comicspriceguide.com/ it could be anywhere up to about $120 (US). But you'd be better off getting a proper quote from a Comic Store. Also bear in mind that you need to find a buyer willing to pay that. So despite what the comic price guides say it may not sell for anything much.
I can't believe I'm not spamming qgl

comics are only worth what someone is willing to pay you...evaluations mean nothing.

Well I don't think the person I am giving it too plans on selling it any time soon. Just wanted to make sure I hadn't got ripped off :)

*Shrugs* Whether you got ripped off or not depends a lot on what printing it is. If it's a first printing then it's probably worth a bit, if it's 2nd or 3rd then not so much :)
