uh yeah,
ive got a dvd drive and a cd-r/rw drive in my pc

now, i had roxio easy cd creator 5 basic and i had a copy of platinum so i tried installing that.

i installed along with direct cd aswell, 4 some reason the direct cd was stuffed but it installed anyway.
after the restart it would come up with a blue screen saying that there was problems with some crap (but it was all due 2 the installation of ez cd creater 5 platinum) and i needed 2 fix the problem in safe mode.

i went in2 safe mode and got rid of ez cd creater platinum 5 and everything is back 2 normal now except that my 2 drives arent working.

they are showing up in device manager as not working (with the yellow xclamation mark)

i try to re install drivers and when re installed it says that they might not be working properly..

i have no idea what the hell this is, but it might have something to do with direct cd being installed and some files still being on the computer after i got rid of ez cd creater 5 platinum.

some1 help ?

i'm just taking a shot here, unplug them turn on the computer, turn compupter off, then put the ide cable back.

what software do you normally use for burning?

some progs that came with your Roms may have drivers bundled .. i dunno :D

yeah they've always worked 2gether b4..

i used ez cd creater 5 basic.. until i tried installing some version of platinum now they have both not worked since..

i hav no idea y, something 2 do with direct cd i reckon. but yeah this is bulls***

so have u tried using ez cd 5 basic again?

well nah installing a program wont fix a cd rom drive. + but yeah i cant do that coz its on cd and i cant do anything without working cd drives.

if so delete both the drives in device manager and reboot, let xp reintall them;

try installing your software again after that;

f***ing reformat

yeah i tried everything that has been suggested in this thread.. cept format or reinstall windows.. i am not doing that.

but hey, i forgot about system restore and i just tried it - WORKED!! finally.
