Shamelessly ripped from Penny Arcade, a list of features to be included in the new Battlefield 1942 version 1.3 patch. More sound and memory optimisations, balance tweaks, new gun models and a new Forgive/Punish system for dealing with TK'ers are a few of the changes being made.

These problems can be avoided by enabling HARDWARE ACCELERATION in the sound options menu
i thought a lot of problems were solved by disabling this option

i've never had any huge issues with the game, it obviously needed tweeking, but for me it was always playable

my problem was always that i had to play it with other people

Erik: turning hardware sound off fixes lots of sound problems on SBlive cards. However, if you have the hacked down audigy 2 drivers, or in fact install the new 1.3 patch, those problems are fixed. I'm running hardware on at the moment with the new drivers, and it's really sweet. Creative just don't want them used on Live cards because they want people to have to upgrade.

I don't know why it took them so long to get a proper voting system in place, it's an ESSENTIAL part of any game where ff might be on.

Nice to see the fixes on getting shot in the cockpits too, i was getting rather sick of being killed without a scratch on my plane (or even hearing or seeing the bullets).

I like how the reduced the AA damage vs Planes. Now they are compleatly useless, might as well use the Basooka.

AA rips up planes something bad (provided you can use them of course) and you can't just repair your plane as easily as a tank. Assault guns vs planes was a bit overpowered too, you take alot of damage trying to swoop them.

ermm...i'm guessing if a shell with exploding shrapnel hit a real plane, it would f*** it up. a lot. so why'd they lower the damage :(

Thank god for the improvments on kicking tk'ers.

Ever played CoralSea? TK'ERS EVERYWHERE!

They kill you if you take there plane. But they dont realise that 10sec later another spawns. And while they are killing you, they miss out on the next spawning plane, and then the kill that person.
Its a never ending cycle!

heh yeh Toll..maybe. :P But I would like some kind of in game calibration for sticks, even if its to set pitch/roll paramters for sticks differently.

cool mate, not only would it be great for planes but I am sure a lot would love the rumble and recoil of a big arse tank when she lets loose a slug. Hell AA recoil would be good via a stick, adds to the immersion.
