Does anyone have this?
I have the original transport tycoon but unfortunately the number of vehicles you can build is limited. I was wondering of the deluxe version changed this, and what else it changes...

i have it running under 2k, you have to install ttd win95 edition, then activate compatibility mode in win2k then make a shortcut to the exe and run it in win95 mode.

then activate compatibility mode in win2k
Since when does Windows 2000 have "compatibility mode" ? The only thing remotely close to that is the dongs tool on the install CD which simply fools the program into thinking it's Win95 (but does not actually emulate any of the Win95 stuff which is what Windows XP compatibility mode does).

thought I'd post some screenies of some of the more busy areas in my game:

trains1

trains2

I'm about to experiment with a roro (roll on roll off) train station systems once I find a use and location to use it at. This feature was new to TTD compared to TT.

whats the facsination with bridges/tunnel/multiple trains on one track?

it seriously reduces train speeds and decreases income.

all i remember from my TT days was the straightest is always the best.

and that handy $4 billion i had was good money.

If you build your network efficiently enough it's much easier adding new routes to it, just put a bit of track so that it joins to your backbone and make a new train, no need for thousands of km of new track..

maybe, but i really hated watching my trains slow down. :)

plus thousands of km of tracks rock. :p

its different than transport tycoon dude. TTD adds a whole new signal system, which morax has obviously used to the max.

My screenshots are of using the new system as well.
You may have 2 tracks but you have 6 trains running on those tracks WITHOUT slowdown. You add sections of signals in and as long as only 1 train is in that section there is no slowdown.

In my setup, I have a twin track with 6 trains on it going to a distant farm with uber output. The track section is like this:

==-\/-+->---+-----+---->-+-\/-==
==-/\-+-<---+-----+----<-+-/\-==

= station
-/\ track
> one way
+ signals/sections
you can have 3 trains going each way without slowdown.

It is in fact the most efficient way of doing a track setup. You either need a consistent supply at one end to set your trains to full load tho, otherwise they need to have that disabled.

In morax's example its basically a highway, with on/off ramps.

^^ What Swat said :D

Also if you do have 6 trains on one route (with a very good producing mine), it's not efficient cost-wise to build 6 seperate tracks each for its own train. Building 2 tracks (each one way) is heaps better :)

I think there is one but you don't need it, build 2 trains to start with and you're set for the rest of the game if you keep building :P

http://www.ttdpatch.com/ use that as your TTDX front end, and then place a sign (under the tree menu) with "cht:money 999999" you can also adjust the year with "cht:year 2050" then just remove the sign once the cheat activates.

how do u guys go about setting directions on tracks? just loop out of the back of the station?

also what is RORO? i'm curious
Morax

You set directions on a track by using one-way signals.

RO-RO is "roll-on-roll-out", so a train would enter on one side of the station and continue out the other side, instead of turning on the spot and heading back the way it came.
