I'm a huge online gamer and I've noticed that not so many people are playing RA3, I need a new game to play, So do may peopl play UT2003.

I've checked server query and cogs and cannot find may people at all.

I liked the demo, but I won't buy it unless the online gaming is worth it.

so is it worht it?

there was so much hype about it, but it really isnt all that good. sure the graphics are good, but its basically the same game if not worse because it adds all this crap like special moves once you get full adrenaline and stuff like that

If you've got Unreal Tournament and are satisfied with how it looks and plays, don't bother.
2003 is pretty, but brings nothing new, and needs a system with huge grunt to play smoothly.
The only real saving grace I have found is Deathball. If you do pay your $99, make sure you get this mod. It's what the Bombing Run gametype should have been.

I bought the game and played it a few times, while the graphics are quite amazing it really brings nothing new to the FPS world. You won't be that impressed with the $100 you spent on the game.

Excellent summary Bog, I totally agree. Fantastic visuals, but that's about it.

oooh full sick a red frog!

The latest FPS haven't exactly done much to take their genre to the next step. They really need to start mixing games more and trying new things.

Guess they just keep doing what brings home the green $.

did you buy half life for its multiplayer deathmatch? i seriously hope not

like most of the online FPS's, you buy it for the mods (well HL's case it was great single player)

link off www.planetunreal.com and see if any of the up coming mods interest you. i havent checked out where other mods are hosted.

im not a UT fan one bit, but i definately enjoy playing thru ut2003, and it wasnt for the gfx- i had them all on lowest. CTF and bombing run have particular flavours that are nice.. but its mainly the maps(some) them selves that are good. But really, q3 OSP CTF with threewave map pack has all the twitch and flag action covered.

but yeah check out the mods, 2 that come to mind that might interest a CS player are Troopers and err Red (something). The red one looks like a great cross between DOD, RTCW but with map size to make it alil more lik BF1942.
I think troopers is more like Counter Strike, but set in starwars.. it will have its first release soon.

You said you liked the demo so its a fair bet youll like the game.Magazines etc have been commenting on the empty servers for UT2003 but if you have played against the game-bots youll notice the AI can give you a run for your money.I havent seen the sales figures for the game but it might go a fair way in explaining the empty servers.UT2003 kicks!.

Its fun living next to a kid whos daddy is os mostly too damn much and to counteract his absence, buys the kid any game thats out already. I spent a week playing UT2K3 from start to finish.

The graphics, visuals, and sounds were absolutely top notch, but you need a small renderfarm to run it at full capability.

The details and design in the levels were fantastic, but,

by the time you get to the full team deathmatch type environment with a team of 5 or so players, you want to be playing for a lot longer than five or six levels per 'game type'.

$80-$90AUS, if you got an absent father.

Otherwise wait until there is an addon pack which will turn the total levels from about 27 to about 50.

Then play some serious team UT2K3.

I believe we haven't see any developements in the (retail) FPS genre since Q3. So I would have to agree most of my online playing resides on mods. I never like Q3, but I loved Urban Terror and Rocket Areana. Similarily with HL great game single player, but multi player was missing something and Counter Strike filled that void.

But one thing must be said; UT03's Physics Engine ROCKED THY WORLD.

PS - what would be weird is if we started buying only the engines from our favourite developers and then downloading the mods to run on them. We are virtually doing it now.
