one small advantage I've found with diallup, is there are still unlimited plans. I've got a GIL $33.00 per month plan (Brisbane ISP). now it may not be fast, but so far this month starting on the 1st (today being the 4th of December) I've downloaded 1104mb's. why is it that the broadband ISP's think 3gb's is a fair amount, when on a far lesser quality connection I'll easily break approximately 8.2gb's in this month? what does everyone else think? does maybe 8gb's sound like a more fair and just deal, considering a diallup user paying $33.00 per month could easily flog that limit to bits? |

I agree wholesomely. The greater advantage to broadband IS the better pings and faster download speeds.
but are the pricing plans on BB not unfair and ghey beyond all recognition? |

they are indeed ghey, but this debate has been had and lost so many times that most of us have been beaten into submission by the might/idiocy of the telcos and polies.

As I said back when the 3GB cap was announced, 10GB would have been a much more REASONABLE amount for a low end cap.
But of course, telstra was looking for the lowest they could possibly hit before everyone would just leave it for dialup, enter 3GB. |

Moo> 8.2Gb in a month on dialup? you know there are 10Gb adsl plans available, not as fast as cable but a lot faster than dialup.
but im sure if you can do 8.2Gb on dialup, you'd blow your 10Gb cap on adsl in no time at all :) |

if you think dialup is so great cause its so cheap and unlimited
DSL for 60$ can be unlimited plus more then 10x the dial up speeds =p basically the only thing that would stop you from getting these plans is the upfront 200$ for installation etc Buut... thats up to you. |
